Burnout, burnout, burnout. We constantly hear about it but why isn't it changing? Burnout is preventable but making that organizational change is difficult. Workload and deadlines are a consistent factor of the detriment of a healthy work-life balance. Burnout gets down to what workplace culture is like and addressing the well-being of staff members. It is still a top concern of nonprofit leaders and to tackle it, organizations need to look internally to evaluate if their workplace promotes healthy wellbeing habits. More and more work is being done to engage and work closer with Indigenous communities, but what is the best way to develop long-lasting relationships? Native Governance Center has created a guide that explains what those approaches would look like. "Developing meaningful partnerships shows respect for both sovereignty and elected leaders. When you follow a nation’s processes for outreach and engagement, you affirm Tribal sovereignty and demonstrate that elected Tribal leaders deserve equal respect to other elected leaders." Native Ways Federation has released a report that shares and expands on how Native nonprofits define success and how success is seen culturally. Their goal with this report is to help to spark the relationship between philanthropy and Native Communities. The questions that Native nonprofit leaders and communities want to ask are: What does a thriving Native nonprofit sector look like, on our terms? & What will it take to get there? Native nonprofits have not often been able to communicate how to thrive together in the nonprofit sector and promote collective growth, and in this report, they are moving towards changing that.
