As I am about to go back to France for an epic Olympic holiday, I was reminiscing about my daily commute as a kid on one of the most extensive rail public transport network in the world, thinking this was a global commodity. It should, but it is not a commodity in Australia...yet. Queensland Rail’s “Big Build” is an ambitious Program that will modernise Brisbane City Council's rail infrastructure just in time to be on at the center of the global stage for another Olympic event in 2032. Let's hope that this transformative initiative will deliver the benefits on time and on schedule. MIGSO-PCUBED was involved in the Grand Paris Express, the largest rail infrastructure project in Europe, in an assignment delivering project controls for the consolidation of existing schedules, and more specifically in making the governing schedules more reliable. Our Australia team has been appointed to provide project management office advisory and cost advisory services to support the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP). To meet the increasing demand for rail transport in South East Queensland over the next decade, the Queensland Government is investing AU$9.5 billion in the programme. Leading up to the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, Queensland will benefit from: 🚆 65 new six-car passenger trains that will be constructed at a purpose-built manufacturing facility at Torbanlea, Maryborough.
