According to recent report by Aon, the average "cost for employer-sponsored care would top $16,000 per employee in 2025." This number is significantly higher from 2023 - 2024, 6.4%. "In the healthcare sector, both rising employment levels and wage increases fueled by economy-wide inflation during the past few years are pushing healthcare costs higher," said Debbie Ashford, the North America chief actuary for Health Solutions at Aon, in a press release. "To keep pace with these pressures, the healthcare industry negotiates higher prices, which in turn emerge as higher medical trends." This is yet another example of rising costs burdening the US healthcare system that will drive the need to further remove costs from the system.

Some interesting takeaways: 1. 31% of payers say that clinical coding review holds the most promise for AI (28% in Data Mining, 24% in Complex Clinical Review). 2. 42% of payers say that investment in AI is a top focus of 2024 3. ROI & Impact: Many payers look for an ROI of 3 to 1 or AI technology that delivers 20% cost savings

Regulatory complexities, workforce shortages, and economic challenges are putting pressure on Medicare Advantage programs to improve operational efficiency, accelerate payments, and reduce costs. Healthcare Payment & Revenue Integrity Series (HPRI) highlighted two main takeaways for Medicare Advantage Plans from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) report: 1. Focus on High-Risk Codes: HHS identified that medical records 💉 very often did not support the high-risk diagnosis codes being given out, highlighting that this is an area to implement scrutiny 👁, training and potentially some form of technology 💻 to ensure these codes are valid. 2. Collaboration is Key 🔑 : This report has made it evident that MA plans need to ensure that their providers follow HCC requirements very closely when documenting📃🖋.
