This is about professionalism and control of some phones. Pixels are really nice phones, but they are too talkative and feel like talking with mumbling person disrupting use of phone. It is hard to turn all those features in one go. On top of that it seems that AI is rumbling in chats and it should not interfere (censorship?). If #Google keeps doing it then switch to security system GrapheneOS on Pixel's is very easy wipe out of Android and Google will lose control over their Pixels or AI related to services. One wants to play nice - so play it nice. The context and subjects of conversations is not #Google business to control.

Apple's iMessage has been a topic of discussion for years, with many questioning its anticompetitive practices. A recent Wired article highlights the need for regulators to step in and require the same level of interoperability that was required of carriers years ago. Similar to how text messages were required to be cross-platform, encrypted, and safe, iMessage should be held to the same standards. It's time to address this blatant gatekeeper application. There's a steadily growing market segment, in addition to those of Google and Apple, that says: "We don't want that #BigTech anymore, we don't want that dumb-evil surveillance, bloat and ad ware, we don't want those middlemen. We don't want to be subject to laws in a foreign country that do us no good." Here there is really no genuine competition. This segment gets to buy products and solutions that the two other segments would never even be able to offer; their entire business models is structurally built on commercially predatory algorithms, trickery and data abuse. What does happen, however, is that this segment eats away at the two hyper-centralizing blackbox segments. What happens is that more and more Google and Apple customers are migrating to open-source, decentralized, privacy-centered products and solutions. Holochain's CEO Mary Camacho certainly gets the points across! Data is now stored between the people who are actually chatting, and not some server. "It's profound," she says. It truly is! And what's more. Any stock Android, too, can join in! And soon enough any mobile or computer OS. The moment you invite a friend you have created a shared space, and the only people there are you and your friend or friends. Start imagine what this new ecosystem will bring! You, dear reader, certainly don't want to be the last to migrate, do you? https://lnkd.in/dZnb6EPn

Finally, after 5 long years of R&D, Holochain is being released to the world! Imagine your own data, stored on your own devices (or those of friends, family and coworkers of *your* choice), instead of some faceless corporation! Your own identity and agency, authorized using your own cryptographic keys and always in your own control — meaning never asking to “log in” to random insecure applications run by unknown companies or hostile governments! Now, perhaps most interestingly — we get to see who disapproves!

The potential of ChatGPT replacing Google Assistant on Android phones has stirred up quite a buzz in the tech world. While it’s not a confirmed occurrence, the mere possibility sparks intriguing questions about the future of digital assistants. "We do not build Rabbit R1 to replace your phone." Rabbit debuted their flagship product R1 last night, the latest AI-powered gadget following the steps of Humane Pin and others. What is it? A small touch pad with a Siri like voice assistant that executes commands based on your voice. Couple takeaways from their keynote: - Hardware first: the team built a new hardware to be freed of the limitations of Apple & Google - It's fast: ~5ms response time for most actions, way faster than ChatGPT - Fair price: $199 with no subscriptions (crazy in today's world) Potential challenges: - Adoption: do people want to carry a separate "phone" that has a better "Siri" - Finding the niche: the gadget is for general purpose, what will be it's biggest use case? Is it to book an uber ride, or to reply to emails? - Competition: what if Apple and Google just integrated their assistant BETTER with apps? The Rabbit R1 will be the first of many to improve on the voice to action interface that current phones lack. But should they succeed, they will replace phones, and that goal is worthwhile aiming for. #aiassistants #aihardware #rabbitr1 #smartgadgets

Google I/O took place last week, with AI featuring heavily. CCS Insight were at the event to bring you the very best coverage and insight. You can get the latest analysis in our Google I/O instant insight report. https://lnkd.in/e5U2PVU5 However, AI was not the only topic on the agenda. In his latest blog post, my colleague Ben Wood discusses Google's efforts to make its hardware and software work more closely together. This is similar to Apple's approach, which has been successful in creating a seamless user experience. Some analysts believe that Google's move could hurt Android device makers like Samsung, who have traditionally had more control over the software on their devices. Google also announced updates to Android Auto, Wear OS, and Android 15. I highly recommend giving Ben's post a read: https://lnkd.in/eXcNMZ9f #technology #telecom #android #google #ccsinsight
