Democracy itself is on the ballot in 2024. How can we preserve it? If policymakers pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, decades of attacks on collective bargaining rights will be reversed, and unions will be able to recognize their potential as promoters and protectors of democracy. Today, Friday, September 27th, USMX Chairman and Chief Executive Dave Adam is at the White House for a meeting to discuss ILA-UXMX contract negotiations and the pending strike, Oct. 1. The USMX filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) this week in a late bid to force the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) back to the bargaining table. This is the latest update from the Journal of Commerce. #humanstandard #logistics #forwarding

Sowing the seeds of fear and division is all you have. You have nothing that you can run on because your government and your record is an absolute failure. Need a reminder? ▶️Canada has one of the worst-performing economies a per capita basis. ▶️Debt is out of control with nothing to show for it. ▶️Interest payments @ $54.0 billion/year are larger than healthcare transfers. ▶️Inflation has severely depleted our purchasing power. ▶️Our standard of living is declining ▶️Overdose deaths have increased ▶️Violent crime is at all time highs ▶️Our Immigration program is wrecked ▶️Housing affordability crisis ▶️Canadian workers are taxed into oblivion with income tax increases, payroll tax increases, carbon tax increases. The list of failures is endless. Only a narcissistic sociopath couldn’t see this kind of carnage. Call an election.

The recent developments in Illinois and other states signal a growing trend towards protecting workers from anti-union messaging. As government affairs professionals, it is crucial to monitor these legislative changes closely, as they could impact organizational policies and practices. Engaging with policymakers and stakeholders can provide valuable insights and ensure a balanced representation of diverse perspectives on labor-related issues. Unions 21 has recently conducted an in-depth polling of union members with Survation as part of our insight working into union experiences of industrial action. The work seeks to engage unions across the world on what their experiences and challenges are when it comes to being on strike. The research aims to give unions valuable information to help them make high quality decision-making when taking industrial action. This first piece of work explored the member experience where we found out: - The issue is the most important thing - Members think it was worth it, what do unions do with this? - Members who took action want to get more active! - Methods of engagement – members don’t like SMS! What do you think? Let us know and can you share your union's experiences with us? https://lnkd.in/e_Kwjd3C
