With a brief viewing, it's tough to take everything in! Getting a building survey on a property you are buying can help in many ways. It can help you make the final decision on whether you proceed with the purchase and help you negotiate the asking price if there are issues with the property. The report from the survey can help you plan any renovations or extensions to the property. We can advise on the feasibility of removing a wall, or advise if you need a build over license for nearby drainage or if will you need to serve a party wall notice on neighbours. www.aimsurveying.co.uk #buildingsurvey #nottingham

If you've ever taken on a big renovation, you know how quickly costs can rise above expectations. To cope at The Mount Community Centre, construction manager Barry Whitnell and the Building Committee started prioritizing jobs to match the budget. By dealing with heating and elevator renovations at the outset, they would save labour costs overall. Four basement apartments would cost $400,000 alone so they were put on the back burner. Also, a new underground electrical line would be required to run into the building from Monaghan Road. As they debated whether to delay the demolition of the interior walls, the low bidder for that job threatened to seek out other projects unless it could get started. Its bid had come in $100,000 cheaper than other offers, but the job was still going to cost $400,000 – $240,000 more than expected. At this time, The Mount had $235,466.27 in its bank account. Realtor Bill Pyle pushed to proceed with the demolition since it would cost more in the long run and the money would be paid in installments. This nail biter came to the board for approval and once again they took a leap of faith. As the group faced more challenges, its members also became more creative: https://buff.ly/3CKL30E And that ended up saving the day. #housing #affordablehousing #problemsolving #innovativedesign #renovations #miracles
