However, let's talk about what makes them different. 🌟 Quality Assurance (QA): QA is a set of activities and procedures that ensures you create a high-quality product or have a successful project outcome. It involves ensuring that a product or project is advancing toward delivery and that an organization or team adheres to standards or guidelines. Think of QA as the meticulous director planning the perfect play. QA sets the stage, defines the script (read: processes), and ensures everyone is in sync. It's a proactive approach, focusing on preventing issues before they take center stage. 🕵️♂️ Quality Control (QC): QC, on the other hand, monitors results after a product is developed. This means checking product development or project outcomes to meet the previously defined quality standards. Now, QC is more like the sharp-eyed detective backstage during the show. It's about inspecting each scene, catching any deviations from the script, and making real-time corrections. Leading a High Performing QA Team- Allow Nkechi to shine!!!. As a QA manager managing managers and supervisors it is important that you make your team succeed because you are also being accessed by the quality of decisions coming from your team members. One secret I will let you know today is if you involve your team in your decision making, getting their views, make them feel important genuinely and giving them the needed credit when they deserve it and also showcasing them to other people for a task or project well done. There is a chain reaction that is triggered as they will own the process, work for you with their heart, work and walk with you during the blue days.... In leading a high performing team you need to spot out talents...Who is good at what and assign projects with an agreed timeline for delivery and begin to coach and guide them. When you do this you are raising the confidence level of your team and building the next generation of potential QA managers to take up your role as you will not be there forever 😉 (hahahahahaha) read my previous posts on why . Do not lead with fear that your subordinate will take your job. It should be a thing of pride that someone you mentored is stepping into your shoes based on your recommendation, coaching and visibility given to your team members in the presence of management. One trick that works well is do not forget to use the opportunity to make your high performing team members visible to top management when they come around your department or the manufacturing area..Tell top management that this is Nkechi a quality supervisor she was responsible for the incremental gains we had in complaints reduction through a project she led to troubleshoot and eliminate the Big red number - Consumer complaints... also that is Adamu highly dedicated and hardworking. He developed the HACCP plan for the new product line and risk assess that all criteria are met with superp delivery based on agreed timeliness when you showcase your team and recognise them openly and give them the credit there is a high probability that you will succeed in that role and their loyalty will be on a high. So as a QA manager start giving your team members credit for their hardworking and do not go the meeting room taking all the credit.Somehow management will figure out who is doing the job anyways, so it is better you are perceived as a coach with outstanding team members because in all it is a Win for you as you are seen as someone able to lead and manage a team while your team members do more as they also get a sense of fulfilment for their hardwork being recognised. I charge you today to choose this strategy and see a change in the work rate, loyalty and performance of your team. remember to always give Nkechi a credit for her work openly it works like magic... I’d like to share a key lesson from my first job when I was promoted to Quality Assurance. Early in my QA role, I had a Zoom meeting with my manager that was a learning moment. During the meeting, my manager asked me very seriously why my evaluation count for the week was low. Although he wasn’t yelling, his tone made me nervous and I started crying like a little kid, I don't know why but I couldn't hold it in.😄 I asked him, "Don't you check the end-of-day emails I send where I explain my work?" Seeing me cry, he quickly apologized and said, "Beta, please stop crying. I'm sorry. Sometimes I miss checking emails because I have so many other tasks as a manager." This experience taught me two important lessons. First, good communication goes both ways. It’s important to share your work, but it’s equally important for managers to stay connected with their team. A little understanding can turn a difficult moment into a learning opportunity. Second, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed especially when you're doing your best. It’s also okay to express your feelings when something bothers you. Sometimes, being honest about how you feel can lead to better communication and understanding in the workplace. I hope this experience helps others who might face similar situations. Day in the life of a QA manager Part 1.1- How not to prepare for meetings. The last time I called out the minimum meetings a QA manager attends daily. A QA manager attends an average of 3 meetings on a daily basis and 10-13 meetings on a weekly. From my years of working in the food industry, meetings could come up at the very unplanned moments..So there are planned and unplanned meetings. As a QA manager attending a meeting is an opportunity to show the pulse in your section and share the high and low moments. What numbers are on the green and hey! the always dreaded red numbers.Closely followed by what worked and what did not work. If you are attending a meeting you have to be very prepared for the meeting. Anticipate that you could be asked a question within or outside the context of your own presentation. If you go for a meeting don't just sit there and not contribute a word, trust me if that trend continues you are seen as weak and not adding value. You may not be called in other meetings where inputs from personels are needed. So you must be mentally prepared for every meetings if you want to succeed as a QA manager. In my own reflection of my experience..I have had high and low moments during meetings..The low moment was because I just crashed into the meeting unprepared and I did not contribute much it does not mean I am not adding value its just that such trend should only occasionally happen if it must happen. The very high moments are when I am well armed with detailed information and having a clear understanding of the root cause of the issue and what action is realistic. How not to prepare for a meeting is not knowing your QA numbers ...You should know all your QA numbers. Status of all actions with respect to your function. Never underestimate the power of having a personal diary or journal trust me you will need it. Many atimes trust me a meeting may not go your way. It could be a bad day after the session especially when you receive a difficult feedback to turn around the numbers. It will happen alot of times interestingly...Hey hang in there it is part of the process. Life does not always give chocolate and if you are not doing anything wrong then it means you are not doing anything. As a QA manager have you had a low moment ? How did you manage it? How to become a Quality Assurance professional? Be passionated by the Quality Assurance itself. Having the Quality Assurance culture. Acquire and achieve most of the Quality Assurance related skills. Try to having Quality Assurance experience in different sectors to achieve polyvalency. Read and read many Quality assurance related references. Understand Quality Assurance standards requirements and how to implement it. Learn auditing and compliance evaluation skills. Stay and build relations with Quality Assurance professionals to learn from their knowledge, skills and experience. Obtain international certifications and qualifications in Quality Assurance.

Topic :- Habits 3 Habits can change QA life: HABIT1: Be Proactive - We need to be set up our plan based on our Goal. Example: 1) Before start the week, QAI need to be made weekly plan to avoid the unnecessary hassle in the existing day. 2) QAI must need to ensure that before complete the output of the product, the process quality should be as specified. 3) Factory has offered Final inspection & QAI responsibility is to make sure that goods are ready. If not ready QAI need to ensure before go to factory to save the Cost & Time, resources & situation of aborted inspection. Benefits: Proactive people are rarely caught by surprise. Proactive people do plan for the future. Being proactive means taking timely, effective action. A positive attitude from a positive perspective helps you become the employee who is ‘ready, willing, and able,’ who can always be counted on. HABIT2: Begin with the End in Mind- First we need to fixed the vision of our work & at the end we will get the result. Example: 1) We are doing PP meeting & making the risk assessment report. In PPM report we discuss before start the bulk production to avoid the unwanted hassle during production. 2) Factory offered two PPM in separate days but we need to make plan to do it in same day as a result it is save the cost & resources. 3) As per client standard, we will keep continue the daily process follow up, whatever the style is running in sewing floor their quality require level is achieve. Benefits: It will energize to make the work perfect & client will be happy with our work criteria as well as our Work standard. Lastly it will increase our business path in future. HABIT3: Put First Things First- we need to work based on priority basis; we have to understand first that the value of importance & urgency. Example: 1) Each day we have inspection event in the factory but our priority is reviewing the factory process first. 2) If we know same day we have more inspections in hand, then we need to go the factory early to avoid any late-night inspection hassle. 3) We need to make plan based on our importance & urgency – If different factory has offered initial inspection & final inspection in same day, then QA need to identify the importance & urgency of every single inspection to minimize the Cost & Time, resources & situation of aborted inspection. Benefits: If QA are well aware on the procedure, then no hassle will arise in inspection stage. As a result, QA will win the situation & at the same time company will win too.
