Transitioning to new team? Focus on the first 2 pillars of being a great teammate during the early phases. 1) Show up- Take care of yourself so you are able to show up in all interactions with a task oriented positive focus. Sets the tone for you and the team. 2) Build relationships - While very challenging as working through tasks, get to know people (their name!, where they are from, etc) be authentic and interested. Share stuff about yourself.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO AT WORK: - be in a place that isn’t work - talk about things that aren’t work - learn about your colleagues beyond who they are in work Yesterday was lovely, motivating and also relaxing after the slog of the last few weeks. 🌟 Team Bonding 🌟 Something I feel is underrated & not done often enough in Businesses. Yesterday our Residential Heating Operations Team had a great time throwing some axes, darts & shuffleboard (we didn’t throw the shuffleboard because that would be dangerous)🪓🎯 There was: - Friendly competition - Big cheers of encouragement & support for eachother - The chance to chat & not talk about work Bringing the team together outside of the workplace to get to know eachother & let loose, in my opinion is invaluable. Work hard, play hard right?! Here’s your Friday reminder to get your teams together & have some fun 🙌🏼

The value of a team is made up of individual values of team members. To understand the true value of your team, isolate the team members and measure there true value. The more the valueless members, the less the achievement of the team. Some team members have negative values that subtract from the overall value of a team instead of adding. Let no team member hide in the value of the team when in actual fact they are a subtraction to the team's overall potential achievement. In Nyanja they say, "kuwelengela mbewa na michila," meaning counting mice together with their tails. Be a positive contribution to the teams we belong to. Let's do it!

A few months ago I learned something that completely changed how I lead my team. My only job is to remove anything in the way. (My employees will do the rest) I saw results right away: - I didn't feel the need to do everything - We grew faster than I thought was possible - They came up with ideas that I had never thought of However, there was a reason that we were able to do that. It's because we had a built a culture of trust. ↳My team knew that they could try and fail without worry. There were things we tried that completely bombed. Each was a lesson. It still stung. But we got better each time. Here's how I put it into practice: 1. Set up biweekly meetings to discuss what to remove from our plates 2. Monthly meetings on anything personally and professionally that's getting in the way 3. Discuss the priorities for the week every Monday 4. Get out of the way and let my team be awesome As Michelangelo said when carving David, “I created a vision of David in my mind and simply carved away everything that was not David.” Our job is the same.
