The moment they put Grant Shapps in the MOD you knew no good was to come of it. He has no “Moral Courage” or backbone always put in place when a department is to get budget cuts. Look at his time in the Department for Transport when 800 workers were made redundant for cheap foreign workers. He was full of hot air saying all the rights things that this would not happen. Then it did. He then talked tough about prosecuting the MD when the MD admitted at the House of Commons Select Committee that he knew he was breaking the UK employment law. No follow up on that. He does not bold well for the MOD he is happy to take the flack for failure or cuts as long as he stays a Minister. The Chiefs of the General Staff now need to stand up and be counted. This cannot be allowed to happen. Instead of cutting the vessels because you cannot recruit enough sailors, you look at your recruiting approach and sort it
