When it comes to the nuances of working with contract manufacturers, there are specific responsibilities for both the designer and the manufacturer. It turns out there are a lot more considerations than what they teach you in college, as discussed in the audiogram below. Many questions need to be answered, which is one reason why allowing your CM to handle PCB panelization might benefit you. Listen to the latest CircuitBreak: A MacroFab Podcast episode to learn more: https://bit.ly/3LiYZ3f Other key discussion points include reflow profile considerations, parts washing requirements, exploring current sensing for fan control and more.

PCB production array formats should be a conversation you have with your C.M. upfront. Standard PCB product panel sizes, 21x24, 19x25, 18x24 and 16X18 all have advantages as well as constraints driven by trace and space of the design. 100 % yields with no 'x outs' allowed is now expected and demanded. Have those conversations early and define the array before launch!
