After 4 or 5 years as an ENGINEER in the Cross Country Natural Gas Pipeline industry - I was offered double my salary - to make a move to another much larger - and Global company. I had NOT been searching for other opportunities. I had done much ENGINEERING - and ESTIMATING work for that company. I had programmed in nearly ALL of the ENGINEERING FORMULAS - which had greatly increased the speed and accuracy of PRELIMINARY DESIGN - and ESTIMATING. It was something that I had chosen to do - when I saw the need. That program became the standard. It was that ability - that the new company wanted. The company I was with - made my CHOICE TO MOVE ON easy - when they brought an incompetent MISOGYNISTIC NARCISSIST into management - from outside of the company. That micromanaging NARCISSISTIC IDIOT - attempted to MANDATE that I add in programming - to estimate pencils used for every project. He was an accountant / a 2 cent pencil pusher - that thought his pencil would be an impact on MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR PROJECTS. The SIGNS were EVIDENT. The WRITING WAS ON THE WALL. That was it. I turned in my resignation - and accepted the other offer. I feel that there are NO COINCIDENCES - and that ALL of the SIGNS were telling me - that it was TIME for me to MOVE ON. #TimeToLeave #TimeToMoveOn #SignsEvident #NoCoincidences #Narcissistic #Misogynistic

A useful read for organizations newer to 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬. I don't agree with everything here, however it's a good starting place! When hiring a consultant, consider if you're simply looking for someone to complete a predefined task, or desire strategic partnership. The answer helps you decide who to hire. On a task-level, I carry-out the majority of the leg-work, including data collection, analysis, and writing/visualization of results. Depending on the organization and the goals of the project, this 2nd part can be more or less hands-on for staff, partners and community members. I was afraid the first time I work abroad. I was afraid the first time I am booked a interview call with client. What if they ask questions I can't answer? Fear of ridicule.
