Insights of Interns: Brianna Boucher-Metoxen ’24 Major: Business Administration Organization: The Boldt Company - Appleton, Wis. Title: Project Controls Intern What I did: I worked alongside project control managers to complete day-to-day tasks such as training documents for current employees. These had information on how CMiC and other software that Boldt offers works to maximize company efficiency. I also worked with Power BI software to create graphs and explain a multitude of numbers. Learning day-to-day operations within the office setting and traveling to onsite projects would maximize my time as an intern. What I liked: I enjoyed getting to know how a construction company operates from the inside out, learning the values that they strive to have across company standards, and implementing them into my work. I got to see on the job site work being done by project managers as well as project engineers and team meetings that would occur. Future Dream Job: My dream job includes being a project manager/engineer or owning my own residential business. #sentryschoolinterns

Excited to share my recent experience with the bp internship project! 🚗⚡ During my virtual internship with bp, I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to a project aimed at revolutionizing the way electric vehicle (EV) users find and navigate to charging stations. With the global shift towards sustainable energy, BP is at the forefront of innovation, recognizing EVs as the future of transportation. One of the project's key objectives was to address the fundamental challenge faced by EV users: locating the nearest charging station and ensuring they have enough battery to reach it. As the new senior designer on the team, I was tasked with diving into market research to understand the features essential for an efficient charging station locator app. Through extensive user research and competitor analysis, I gained valuable insights into the needs and frustrations of EV users. Armed with this knowledge, I crafted a goal-directed persona, ensuring that our design decisions were grounded in user-centric principles. Using industry-standard tools like Figma, I wireframed a user-friendly interface focused on functionality and ease of navigation. Annotating the design to highlight user flow, I collaborated with the team to iterate and refine our concept, ultimately creating a prototype ready to be shared with stakeholders. This internship experience not only honed my design skills but also deepened my understanding of the pivotal role BP plays in advancing sustainable energy solutions. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an impactful project and look forward to seeing how it shapes the future of EV adoption. It's summertime ladies and gents, and I think you all know what that means... INTERNS! How can you effectively leverage your internship, and managers, how can you get the most of your interns in the short summer months? Let's start with the youngins. Internships can be sort of a whirlwind experience. You're diving into a company's culture, learning how they do things, and trying to soak up as much of your summer break from school. Crammed into about a 6-week period. The best advice I can give, stay in the moment. Show up every day ready to learn and tackle the tasks you have that day. No, you may not get to do the most fun or glamorous work. But you can learn so much just being on a jobsite and interacting with professionals who have dedicated their lives to being better construction managers. Be thankful for the opportunity, show up every day ready to work, and take a lot of notes. Construction managers, it's your turn. Yes, some harmless hazing of the intern is fun and can break up the monotony of the day-to-day grind. I've been on both the receiving and giving end, and it can be a fun way to build team chemistry. But keep in mind, these interns are probably overwhelmed and not very confident in themselves when they start. Try to go easy on them for a bit, let them get their feet underneath them. Teach them as much as you can. Let them be involved in some of the fun tasks. Show them really what it's like to be a part of your team and work with you. We need these younger folks interested in the industry. Interns can be a great tool for construction companies and project management teams, if used properly. If you're stuck and not sure how to best develop your interns, give me a shout. Get out there and go build something.

🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I'm thrilled to share that I have successfully completed my internship certification, working on an incredible Showroom Project as a Project Manager. 🎉 Throughout the internship, I had the privilege of collaborating with a team of dedicated stakeholders and professionals to plan and execute this exciting venture. The project involved creating a cutting-edge showroom in the coolest section of the city, catering to our ever-growing fanbase and consumers. As a Project Manager, my role was to ensure every step of the project was carefully orchestrated, and I couldn't be prouder of the results we achieved. We meticulously laid out the project plan, delving into initial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Collaborating with the design team, we brought the vision to life through conceptualization and branding. One of the most critical aspects of the project was navigating the regulatory landscape. We diligently obtained all necessary permits and complied with building codes to ensure a seamless and compliant process. Vendor selection and contracting were crucial in making this project a reality. I'm pleased to share that we collaborated with top-notch vendors, each bringing their expertise to the table, making the project truly exceptional. Construction and renovation were no small feat, but we navigated through it with determination, ensuring the showroom's physical space was a perfect reflection of our brand and values. Technology played a vital role, and the integration of live streaming feeds and podcasts added an extra layer of excitement for our customers. The seamless setup of technology and infrastructure was a result of careful planning and execution. I must commend my team for their dedication to quality assurance and testing. Their efforts ensured that everything was in perfect order before we opened our doors to the public. In the end, the grand opening and launch were a moment of immense pride for all of us. Witnessing the vision come to life and receiving such positive feedback from our patrons was truly rewarding. As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the essence of project management. Effective communication, collaboration, and attention to detail were the cornerstones of our success. I am grateful for my five years of experience in the industry, which have prepared me to tackle projects of this scale and complexity. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this project a roaring success. I am excited to carry forward the valuable lessons and experiences from this internship certification into future projects. #ProjectManagement #ShowroomProject #AchievementUnlocked #Teamwork #CertificationComplete #ProudMoment #CareerGrowth #LinkedInInfluencer Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement. Here's to more remarkable projects and milestones ahead! 🥂 CBRE CBRE India CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS)
