If the demands of your practice and personal life don't allow the time for 20 hours of pro bono work, you can still fulfill your goal with a donation to Southern Legal Counsel! In response to a need for legal services to the poor, the Florida Supreme Court ruled in 1992 that lawyers should aspire to do 20 hours of pro bono work each year OR contribute $350 to a legal aid organization. We are at the forefront of the fight for LGBTQ rights in Florida, while also protecting the civil, constitutional and education rights of Floridians with severe legal needs. From transgender Floridians in need of health care, to our unhoused neighbors whose rights are being violated in local government sweeps, to children with disabilities in need of access to special education, thousands of Floridians count on us in their pursuit of justice. And they are counting on you to make sure we can continue to serve them. Donate now so that we can continue our important work: https://bit.ly/3NIk21g #donate #donatenow #probono #probonodonation #charitablegiving #fundraising #fundraiser #giveback #makeadifference #bethechange #nonprofitlawyer #nonprofitlaw #notforprofitlaw #notforprofitlawyers #probonolaw #probonolawyers #lawfirm #floridalawyer #lawyers #southernlegalcounsel #SLC #civiljustice #civilrights #socialjustice #humanrights

During my 3L year at University of Miami School of Law, Brian Adler pulled me aside and said something along the lines of "You've done so much to grow OUTLaw during your time at Miami Law, I want to help you leave a legacy behind. Think about a project that you want to leave that will impact generations of law students that come after you." I knew that I wanted other LGBTQ law students to experience the feeling I felt while attending the 2017 National LGBTQ+ Bar Association's Annual Conference and Career Fair (Lavender Law) and walking into a conference room full of successful LGBTQ+ legal professionals. Therefore, I started working with administration at Miami Law to create the Lavender Law Fund and raised $10,000 to help make sure it was off to a good start. Many of you have supported this effort over the years and I'm beyond grateful for your support! Without you, this endeavor would not be possible. I'm back again to ask for your support in raising enough funds to send 12 Miami Law students to Lavender Law this year in Washington DC and to make sure that the Lavender Law Fund has enough funds for future generations. The goal is for this account to never deplete. To make a donation go to: https://lnkd.in/g2UxQJ8j If you're unable to make a donation, simply sharing this post makes a huge impact. #LGBTQlawstudents #LavenderLaw #LavenderLaw2024 #LGBTQlegalprofessionals #MiamiLaw #legalprofession #attorneys #lawyers #legalprofessionals

Win more grants and raise more money for your agency with training, keynoting, and coaching from a seasoned pro who has raised more than $100 million and trained more than 10,000 people worldwide.
Better Grants Start with Better Decisions It's not the dog's fault. The one that starts barking at 3 a.m. and doesn't stop. The owners left it outside. But still, I blamed that dog for invading my dreams with its piercing, rhythmic cry. For years, I blamed convoluted grant applications for driving grant writers barking mad. Until I woke up—gradually through networking, workshops, reading, and learning. Then I realized that the lack of transparency and outmoded applications weren't the most damaging aspects of the grant-seeking process. The lack of grant funding for marginalized groups, like people of color and LGBTQ organizations, is far more concerning. According to reports, only 1.8% of philanthropic giving goes to Black-led organizations, and a mere 0.28% goes to the LGBTQIA+ community. Additionally, many funders refuse to provide general operating grants, demanding new programs for every grant cycle. How often have you heard, "We don't fund people, only programs"? As if programs magically materialize without people behind them. Naming these issues feels overwhelming or cathartic when commiserating with grant pros. But that's just the start of making things better. On the Fundraising HayDay Podcast, co-host Amanda Day and I are dedicated to making space for awareness and connection with grant writers who want change and groups working toward it. More than Grant Writers, #CrappyFundingPractices, and GrantAdvisor are doing great work in these areas. Follow them on LinkedIn and other platforms to learn how you can volunteer and maybe sleep a little better at night for having done so. **************************************************************************** Hi, I’m Kimberly! Making words make a difference ♦ Communications Engineer ♦ Consultant ♦ University Professor ♦ $100 Million + Revenue for Nonprofits Globally
Majors ➡️ we love them ($$$$) ➡️ hate them (resent maybe) ➡️ need them (but won't admit as much) ➡️ and desperately want them (again, $$$$) Fundraisers living with the 20/80 of nonprofit gifting believe 20% of givers (majors) give 80% of gifts. Those are the majors. They build capacity and sustainability. They create lead gifts, matching gifts, initial gifts, cornerstone gifts, naming-right gifts. (The best naming-rights gift I've encountered is a all-access bathroom from a family foundation giving to LGBTQ influence - and bathrooms are expensive!) But talking to majors isn't always something fundraisers are good at. It's just not the same as talking to the $25 monthly giver in your annual campaign. What's different? They want to be insiders to the mission, not the operational acronyms, but the C-Suite or BoD and get access only majors enjoy. And that means talking to them like they're different - because they are, even if they won't admit it, ask for it, or always act like it - they want it. And this is why some fundraisers don't like majors - it's a personality and pride thing - on both sides of the relationship. #nonprofit #fundraising #majorgifts

⭐Nonprofit Spotlight ⭐ In honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, we are highlighting Ujima: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community. Social identities, or categorizations we are assigned or born into that grant power, benefits, or disadvantages, help inform our lived experiences and how we relate to each other, and are used to explain differences in outcomes, effort, or ability. The way our identities intersect is largely impacted by systems rooted in oppressive concepts embedded into our history: colonization & settler colonialism and cultural norms that uphold racism, patriarchy, and cisheteronormativity. People embody many social identities, and each one doesn't exist in a vacuum. Rather, different aspects of our identity overlap with one another to shape a unique experience for each of us. Our lived experiences (your thoughts, beliefs, choices and how we are treated) are shaped by how these social identities INTERSECT. And the 'power' social identities hold can change and are contextual to place and time. For example, who is perceived as 'white' has changed over the course of time and is dependent on place (ie. United States vs. Latin America) How do you keep intersectionality in mind as you navigate interpersonal interactions with people of different social identities?
Everyone (including you!) holds several types of identities. Maybe you’re a first-generation college graduate, a Muslim, ✨and also✨ LGBTQ2IA+. At Consultants for Good, we continually work to understand how the intersectionality of multiple identities impacts folks in the nonprofit sector. This month, we recently learned more about the career experiences of nonprofit employees who are both LGBTQ2IA+ and BIPOC. Take a look at what we discovered: https://lnkd.in/gjRxxKGa Emily Shamsid-Deen, MNM, Patrilie Hernandez, Jacqueline Adam-Taylor – As some of C4G’s resident DEI experts, can you share a thought or two about how nonprofit leaders can keep the intersectionality of various identities in mind as they lead with a DEI approach? 🌈 #notjustanotherpridepost #nonprofit #nonprofits #nonprofitorg #nonprofitorgs #nonprofitorganization #nonprofitorganizations #nonprofitleader #nonprofitleaders #nonprofitleadership #nonprofitwork #nonprofitDEI

Hello - I need help to raise $3800 pretty quickly to grow a ministry that I feel deeply called to in the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. My long term goal is to have Episcopalians & co. ready to testify every day that the Missouri Legislature is in session - just like some other Christians groups are -whatever the issue. This means building up our "bench" of faithful advocates and building skills. Voter Voice helps us to identify and build our bench across the Diocese, then hopefully across the state and ecumenically. Perhaps someday I might even be paid to organize this work. But, right now, we need a total of $5000.00 to pay for Voter Voice for 2025. Please, share the fundraiser or donate or both. Thank you!!! Here's the description and the Go Fund Me link: During the 2024 Missouri Legislative Session, Episcopalians in the Diocese of Missouri started using software called Voter Voice to contact legislators and, more importantly, expand our networks of Christians across Missouri advocating for the prevention of gun violence, for publicly governed public education, for healthcare for LGBTQIA people and more. We must continue to build our advocacy network to make our voices heard as Christians advocating for justice and peace in Missouri. We must continue to strengthen relationships with our legislators and build our presence in Jefferson City during the 2025 Legislative Session. Long-term, I hope this organizing tool will be used in both Episcopal Dioceses and shared with other justice-minded Christian groups in Missouri, to better coordinate our advocacy in Jeff City. A first step for 2025 is securing funding to renew our subscription in Voter Voice software - a powerful organizing tool that we just began to learn how to use in the 2024 Legislative Session, thanks to the generosity of Episcopalians at the 2023 Diocesan Convention. If you cannot give, please share this link. Our goal is to raise a total of $5000.00 by Monday, October 7. All funds will go directly to the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, not to me. https://gofund.me/f5ee91ed
