I sympathize with #VineshPhogat and am disappointed as an Indian, however, there's a story around risk in the Vinesh Phogat story that resonates deeply with business leaders.
For those unfamiliar, Vinesh Phogat is an Indian Olympic wrestler. Recently, she faced a significant challenge: maintaining her weight at 50 kgs to compete. Getting as close to the line without crossing it was the challenge. Every gram counted. The stakes were colossal and carried the hopes of a nation.
Business leaders are regularly faced with the decision to do that little bit more on a regular basis. That tiny bit of "extra" risk to maximize returns. Greater returns mean better performance, greater rewards, more glory.
However, it's essential to have your boundaries defined well in advance. Drawing the line and saying no at crunch time, when facing an attractive outcome, is very difficult. The timing makes the risk seem smaller than it is. The lure of the outcome creates a pull towards taking the extra risk.
Having pre-defined tolerances, and definitions around how far and no further, are best made before the situation actually faces us. When the time comes, the pressure or the lure (money, glory, or whatever) has a greater chance of winning.
Often it pays off; sometimes it goes horribly wrong.
As business leaders, how do you ensure you don’t cross the line? Share your experiences or strategies about managing risks and setting boundaries.

From my perspective, both have different tangents Rohit Gera
Taking same wrestling example, while player prepares for competition, they are aware of competitor, strength, scores vis-à-vis own self capabilities. They get 100% support on their fitment, training and living, and they are also aware of the playfield environment where they are going to play, so they have all the pre-required information and focus is only to practice more, prepare best with given circumstances and just excel.
Coming to business, there is no pre hand information how the market would behave in future, how many new launches would happen, will there be any change in Govt policy, and there is no equal level field in business as in sports. Many business parameters are unknown/ half known, many strategies, detailed preparations to be done, one has to be more of chess player to understand the market gimmicks and faster than cheetah to grab the business opportunity, intelligence with acumen only will lead.
To sum up, my bottom line differentiator is -
Sports person needs - expertise with skill
Business person needs - acumen with intelligence

Leadership isn't just about being in charge, it's about taking responsibility.
As leaders, we’re not here to create followers, but to empower and uplift others so they can also lead. True leadership is measured by the impact we have on those around us, not by the title we hold.
India, after 1947, has been a story of resilience, growth, and remarkable achievements. If we continue to harness the power of relentlessness and build an ecosystem of leaders who encourage others to lead, India in 2050 will be a powerhouse like no other. Let's celebrate this independence with an aim to drive transformational change, innovate fearlessly, and shape a future where every leader nurtures the next generation of leadership.
✨ Inspire Growth🌱: Encourage your team to embrace challenges as opportunities for learning.
✨ Lead with Empathy🫂: Understand the needs and aspirations of your team. They are your most valuable resource.
✨ Cultivate Trust💯: Lead by example, and be the leader who others can trust, even when times get tough.
In the entrepreneurial world, our success is directly linked to how well we foster leadership in others. Remember, your legacy is built by the leaders you create.

One of the leadership essential that I have seen many leaders, managers missing out on is - Attention to Detail.

Why does Steve Jobs believe Innovation Distinguishes between a Leader and a Follower?
In today's whirlwind world, anyone can copy. But true leaders? They innovate. They're the trailblazers, the rule-breakers, the ones who see possibility where others see limits. Steve Jobs believed it all comes down to innovation. It's not just about keeping up; it's about forging new paths, disrupting the status quo, and leaving the competition behind.
Steve Jobs words resonate deeply in our quest for leadership excellence reminding us that embracing innovation isn't merely about staying ahead; it's about charting new paths and inspiring others to join in the journey.
