What better way to celebrate both the legacy and future of Grand Junction High School than by performing the Fight Song one last time in the current building! (*Turn on audio 🎵 *). We look forward to seeing the GJHS band perform this song in the new school this fall and continuing the many other traditions that make this community special. This video was prepared by DPM for the Board of Education project update last week - the last update before the ribbon cutting in August. It shares a recap of the construction of the new school building with drone footage captured by Clint Smith and Onsite Drone Services! Special thanks to the entire D51 community, the 'Yes on GJHS' campaign committee, Mesa County Valley School District 51, Grand Junction High School, BG+co, DLR Group, FCI Constructors, Inc., and the Colorado Department of Education BEST Grant Program for making this important project possible. GJ All Day.

In a recent edition of Exchange Every Day dedicated to embracing families, communities, and culture, Monica Wells, our family and community program administrator, shared her deep connection to families and communities and how it positively impacts children's success. "Strong, authentic relationships between our families, students, and educators are key. We must speak life into our students, cheer them on, teach them the skills, and provide the tools they need to be prepared for the future. We must show examples of the power, importance, and necessity of community." Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gc7ur8uu

What a great story about a young man with a goal and the motivation to accomplish great things! Check out his story on the latest episode of the Reading Revolution! #literacyforall #literacymatters #inchystory
Wow! This kid is on fire! Check out the latest episode of The Reading Revolution as we sit down with California high school student and change agent, Carter Beardsley. Carter wanted to bolster literacy programs at his former elementary and middle school, so that's exactly what he did. It's grassroots funding in its finest form! #literacyforall #literacymatters #inchystory Gavin Newsom and Shannon Grove , you should be very proud of Carter's vision and accomplishments! https://lnkd.in/e9KyHauA

So good to see local partnerships that strengthen Tribal partnerships with Tribal partners and Leadership.
A portion of the Fort Building just north of City Hall in Fort Bragg is on its way to becoming a tribal learning center, in collaboration with the city and a coalition of local tribes.

The importance of a good educational start...
🦆 Duck walks are one of many traditions for our Cambridge Colleges every spring! 🚣 Generations of ducks have nested within Colleges since at least the 1960s and probably well before, and there is a great tradition of our porters helping them safely to the River Cam. 🎩 This week, the team at Corpus Christi College Cambridge found a mother duck incubating her eggs underneath a shrub in Old Court. It fell to veteran porter Lee Peters to start them on their journey to the river. 🚦 Porters held back traffic on Trumpington Street so the procession could cross over to St Catharine's College Cambridge, where their porters opened the front gates and gave them permission to cut across the grass. 🦆 Finally, they hopped up the stairs into Queens' College, Cambridge, through two courtyards, across the Mathematical Bridge and finally dove into the River Cam for their first swim as a family. #UniversityOfCambridge #CambridgeUniversity #Cambridge #Ducks #Ducklings #Nature

What is light? Considered in itself, it is too bright for us to look at or else it is beneath the red and beyond the violet so we can't see it. If it is subdued, we can see in its radiance and, if conditions are right, we can see its radiance - sort of. If it hits moisture in the air or shines through a prism, it diffracts into seven distinct colors. If it hits something more or less solid and reflects off of it, we can see the coat of many colors that is the gift of the world. I am writing a book on education that I have to finish by 4.29. I need light. I seek light. I am reflecting on light. Pray that I will reflect that light! Also, the book will be launched in a one-day discussion on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Charleston, SC at the Francis Marion Hotel. Come join us. The fee includes a signed copy. Here's the registration (it takes you to the conference page, but the book launch is a pre-conference that you register for in the same place): https://lnkd.in/e-fghTe2

Read more from our Heading of Boarding, Miss Serbrock, in the Prep Schools Trust monthly blog 👇
In this month’s blog, Leonie Serbrock, Head of Boarding at Mowden Hall School, recognises the importance of creating a ‘home’ for the pupils that board at our schools. Embracing a pupil's individuality in our family of flourishing schools can contribute to the happy memories our boarders will make during their academic years.
