Hear ye, hear ye! It's officially my favorite time of year, in which I get to hire a brilliant new Senior Software Engineer to join my Infrastructure team supporting the services ecosystem for Magic: the Gathering Arena. Fun facts about us: - We go by squad name ✨Mystic Forge🔮, which rates a 15/10 for cool Magic card reference and a 2/10 for intuitive, non-opaque naming. - Every year we collect the best, most absurd quotes from the team and try to guess who said what. You'll be shocked at your own cleverness and quick wit. - We are pragmatic, genuinely enjoy working together, and are passionate about our tech. Come for the technical stack and amazing benefits, stay for the "Oh, the problem was FIX_BUG = false. It needs to be true.". You won't regret it. Apply here today! https://lnkd.in/gce5kGEe

Being a #software engineer, one of the many things I love about my work at Atfinity is the problem solving, and here’s why: 🧠 Intellectual stimulation Each new problem is a new obstacle that requires me to analyse it from various angles. This keeps my mind sharp and engaged. 🤔 Freedom to be creative I get to explore various approaches, try out many ideas and transform abstract concepts into functional applications. 🎯 Sense of accomplishment It's great when the team and I finally solve a problem after giving it a lot of thought. This gives us a unique feeling of achievement. 🔗 Strengthening team bonds When we figure out something together, not only do we expand our knowledge base, but also get to reflect on that team experience later on. 📈 Helping our clients Each new problem solved means a new feature enabled, i.e. more benefits for the users of our platform. This is a motivator like no other. 🚀 Contributing to Atfinity’s success The more problems we solve, the better our software is, which enables us to have more satisfied users and keep on reaching our business #goals! What do you enjoy the most about your role? I’d love to hear 🙂 Share it in the comments 👇👇

At Zealy, we are building the best product in our category while having no product manager. How are we doing that? We are hiring a special kind of developers called product engineers. They look like regular full-stack developers, but they have something extra: They care about building a solution to problems that provide value to users. They have a broader skillset and responsibilities: - They are people with taste that can make design decisions. - They are opinionated about the roadmap and the future of the product, and are making decisions on priorities and what to work on. - They are obsessed with customers. They talk to them, understand the real problems they are having, and figure out solutions. What’s your approach to product development?

You can have many years of experience as a software engineer, but if it was in a company with a poor culture or bad tech practices, it may not count for much. This raises the question: why not hire devs with no experience eager to learn, and nurture them with the skills you want, in a positive culture?

Software Engineer at Nordstrom | MSCS at ASU | Writing about Software Engineering and Career Growth | Open to friendly coffee chats and Networking
It's hard to believe it's been three months since I joined Nordstrom as a Software Engineer 1. This week, I had a unique opportunity to step out of my usual coding environment and support our stores during the big Anniversary Sale. I was on the front lines, working in order consolidation and directly interacting with the end users of our apps. Hearing their feedback firsthand was incredibly insightful and rewarding. It gave me a whole new perspective on the impact of our work and how we can improve user experiences. For my fellow entry-level software engineers, here are a few takeaways: 1. User Interaction Matters: Always seek feedback from real users. It bridges the gap between development and actual usage. 2. Field Experience is Golden: Stepping into a different role, even temporarily, can provide valuable insights and inspire improvements in your work. 3. Stay Curious: Every interaction is a learning opportunity. Ask questions, listen, and observe. I'm excited to take these learnings back to the team and continue building great solutions. #Nordstrom #NordstromAnniversary2024
