Women's health innovation is gaining momentum, but significant challenges remain. According to SVB's Innovation in Women's Health Report, the women's health sector received record investment in 2023 across a variety of focus areas. However, women have faced challenges in accessing quality healthcare due to sex and gender biases, as well as a lack of representation in medical research. This often leads to delayed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, or undertreatment. To resolve these systemic issues and improve outcomes, more concerted efforts are needed to fund innovation, accelerate commercialization, and ensure accessible solutions reach women everywhere. This is why we are incredibly proud of our partner, Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), for investing in this space, beginning with their Sprint for Women's Health!
📢UPDATE: We were thrilled to have an overwhelmingly positive response to the #SprintForWomensHealth! Proposals covering the six topics came from 45 states, the District of Columbia, and 34 countries. ICYMI: Our Sprint for Women’s Health initiative aims to address critical unmet challenges in women’s health, championing transformative innovations and tackling health conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect women. Read about submission highlights and what’s next as we continue to sprint forward 👇

This week, 2-8 September, marks Women’s Health Week — an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the health of women everywhere. Women’s Health Week 2024 observes a central theme of ‘Your Voice, Your Choice’, something Li-THRED Research Assistant Ella Plant believes is a reflection of the importance of being willing to listen to what women are saying in order to ensure that every woman can have access to the right healthcare for her. “Minimising the stigma surrounding so many women’s health issues is also vital,” says Ella. “These discussions make it possible for women to learn about themselves and their bodies to be able to identify when something might be a concern, but also to know what their options are. “If we advocate for women’s health by having open conversations, sharing stories, and really listening to women’s experiences, then we can empower women to make the right choices for themselves.” #YourVoiceYourChoice #WomensHealthWeek2024

And we're off! 🚀 The Women's Digital Health Summit kicks off with the first panel of the day - Why Defining Women's Digital Health Matters. Moderated by Ann Garnier and featuring Aparna (Amy) Divaraniya, PhD, Shelly Lanning, Mary Jacobson, MD and Kate Steinle. Key takeaways & discussion points include: 🗨 Often women's health conditions outside of family building are hardly spoke about, for example menopause which every woman who makes it to later age will go through. 🗨 There is a lot of false advertising and messaging in the women's health space, and we need to work to prevent this and give messages about women's health that are clinically validated. 🗨 Fundraising reminds a key challenge in this space, especially robust funding for established start ups. From an investor perspective there is a lot of room for women's digital health technologies and so this could easily change. #womenshealth #womensdigitalhealth #wdh2024
