💙 🐾 Mindful Monday at Magellan Winnipeg – Blue Monday Just Got Better! Today, a special Mindful Monday event was held at Magellan's Winnipeg facility, focusing on both mental and physical well-being. The mission? Transform "Blue Monday" into the best Monday of the year! To kick off the day, employees enjoyed some pet therapy courtesy of K9 Advocacy Manitoba and Tails of Freedom. Adorable (and adoptable!) puppies and kittens were available for snuggles and stress relief in the cafeteria meeting space. Interacting with animals is known to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety, making this a heartwarming start to the week. In support of these amazing rescues, Magellan made a donation, and employees were encouraged to contribute as well. 🐈 🐕 Still looking to relax? Wellness on Wheels was on-site offering rejuvenating 5-minute chair massages, helping employees ease the day’s tension. 🧘🏻 Magellan also made a meaningful donation to Project 11, a mental health initiative supporting youth and adults. Created in honor of Rick Rypien, #11 of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, Project 11 promotes mental health awareness and resilience. Rick faced significant mental health challenges throughout his life until his passing in 2011. Additionally, employees were reminded of Magellan Winnipeg's excellent Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through TELUS Health | TELUS Santé. An informational display was set up to share details about the program, offering helpful tips, free consultations with counselors, and other resources to support mental well-being. The goal of the day was to prioritize wellness. Whether de-stressing with a furry friend, enjoying a relaxing massage, or learning about valuable mental health resources, this Mindful Monday truly made a positive impact. 💙

Wednesday Wonders Mental Health Awareness Month Dana Leigh - Techround "Every May, people from all over the world come together to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month. The month allows us to break down stigmas around mental health problems, and promote better wellbeing across all areas of life." Excerpts from some "...of the founders and business leaders across various industries who share their insights and advice on how to create an environment that prioritises mental wellness, as well as their tips for protecting their own." - Dana Leigh Excerpts "In striving for success, your health is your greatest asset. Balancing ambition with mindfulness and appreciating life’s small pleasures is key to maintaining both your happiness and effectiveness. Remember that no achievement is worth sacrificing your mental or physical health." - Laura Phillips "In terms of how I stay mentally well – really it’s two things. Exercise and sharing the load with others." - Craig Letton "Yoga is the only workout that has an impact on the nervous system and can truly help for anxiety and depression." "This is why we created Live Yoga Teachers, a marketplace for livestream yoga classes: with livestream classes you can practise from home and add more yoga classes to your week and see the step changes in your mood and mental health." - Elodie Gythiel "Put it into practice: Mind Data founder Sean Ruane goes to therapy sessions, practices mindfulness and maintains "a support network of like-minded founders." He supports his team's mental health by prioritizing well-being check-ins, leading by example and recognizing that mental health issues aren't the same for each person -- and neither are the solutions." - Sean Ruane "I used to think mental health was for others, but I now know it’s something we all have to deal with at various times in our lives. So, how are you doing this month? How would you score your mental health out of 10? If you’re feeling low, talk to someone you trust about it. Prioritise your well-being. That’s what I did, and it changed my life for the better. I hope the same for you!" - Jonny Tyers https://lnkd.in/grFf8Ny3

This past week, I had the opportunity to work with Durham Habitat for Humanity, guiding their amazing board through meditation and wellness practices. Seeing how much these sessions positively impacted their well-being was a reminder of how important it is to prioritize mental health at work—especially in environments where people are constantly giving their all. The Business Journals recently pointed out, “Employers have a unique opportunity to address burnout by providing mental health resources, encouraging work-life balance, and fostering an environment of support.” After witnessing firsthand the difference a small pause for mindfulness can make, I’m even more convinced that this kind of support is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity. If your team is feeling the weight of burnout or stress, now might be the perfect time to explore ways to offer them some mental health resources. Whether it's guided meditation, stress management workshops, or wellness programs, these tools can make a huge difference. If you’re looking to bring this type of support to your staff, I’d love to connect. Let’s help your team recharge and thrive both at home and work https://lnkd.in/eu7UcK-v

Have you ever felt like your workday never truly ends? It's so easy to blur the lines between work and personal life these days. Especially with emails, notifications, and deadlines following us home. But here’s the thing: our mental health needs boundaries to thrive. I’ve been exploring how integrative practices like aromatherapy and mindfulness can support workplace mental health. And the science is clear—small, intentional changes can make a massive difference. Think of the rush you feel when you walk into a garden, inhale the scent of blooming lavender, or catch the grounding notes of cedarwood. Essential oils like these can help alleviate stress and promote focus. Even just diffusing a calming oil at your desk during a busy day can create a moment of peace. Pair that with mindfulness practices—like taking regular 5-minute breathing breaks throughout the day—and you’re giving your nervous system the reset it craves. But let’s not stop there. A supportive work environment is just as crucial. Managers who lead with empathy and foster open communication unleash not only healthier teams but more creative, collaborative, and engaged ones. Mental health at work isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Start small. Set healthier boundaries. Take mindful breathers. Lean into supportive resources

Let's talk about life. It's messy, unpredictable, and rarely follows the script we've written for it. From the chaos at work to the surprises waiting at home, it's easy to feel like we're constantly battling against the tide. For me, this might mean finding a new piercing on my teenager, dealing with our old washing machine's leaks, or the dog eating the pizza because he wasn't fed. And let's not forget the nerve-wracking moments like receiving unsettling news from a routine medical check-up. Yup, that's life! You can't escape it, but you can navigate it. You've weathered storms before, and you'll do it again. Acknowledging life's challenges, accepting them, and understanding that they're temporary allows you to approach them with calmness and clarity. You're not alone in this, and you'll figure it out. It's going to be okay. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a reminder to prioritize our emotional wellbeing. At Sigma Design, we're taking this opportunity to shine a light on mental health each week of the month during our all-hands meetings. We're providing lessons on mindfulness, offering an emotional wellbeing seminar, and we're proud to offer year-round mental health support through our benefits package. But it's not just about what we provide; it's about encouraging everyone to take advantage of these resources and take time away from work when needed. We recognize that we're more than our jobs, and it's crucial to prioritize self-care. Whether it's pursuing a hobby, immersing yourself in nature, reading, spending quality time with your family (or taking a breather from them), or simply taking a walk, it's essential to carve out space for yourself. Disconnecting from the daily grind allows you to reconnect with yourself and the world around you. A mindful approach to work and life involves learning to be fully present and engaged in the moment without judgment. It's about intentionally focusing on what you're doing, thinking, and feeling while minimizing the distractions vying for your attention. By setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, and nurturing connections, you can navigate life's ups and downs with grace and resilience. Set boundaries. Be Mindful. Connect.

Hello everyone! Let's talk about mental wellness. In the hustle of professional success, we often neglect the most important aspect of being a human being: our mental health. Mental health struggles are more common than you think, and they can impact anyone, regardless of their position or title. Yet, there's often a stigma around discussing them in the workplace. Prioritizing mental health isn't just about taking breaks; it's about promoting a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to seek help when needed. Every discussion contributes to a healthier and more inclusive environment. Self-care isn't selfish; it's essential!! Take the time to check in with yourself, practice mindfulness, and prioritize your mental well-being. Remember, it's okay not to be okay. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let's normalize seeking support and encouraging one another. In a world where we're constantly connected, it's crucial to set boundaries to protect our mental health. Disconnecting from screens, practicing digital detox, spending time with your family and friends, taking time for a walk in nature, reading a good book, and exploring new places can do wonders for our well-being. Small gestures of kindness can make a big difference in someone's day. Reach out, lend an ear, and check in on those who may be struggling. Together, we can create a more compassionate and understanding community. Remember, a healthy mind is a productive mind.

May is Mental Wellness Awareness Month Let's Ignite Mental Wellness Together! Hey Spark community! As we dive into Mental Health Awareness Month, it's crucial to remember that our mental well-being is just as important as our physical health. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to neglect our mental health, but taking small, positive steps can make a big difference. Here are three simple yet impactful ways we can prioritize our mental wellness: 1. Practice Mindfulness and Self-Compassion: Set aside a few minutes each day to check in with yourself. Whether it's through meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply reflecting on your thoughts and feelings, mindfulness can help ground us in the present moment and alleviate stress. Remember to be kind to yourself - treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding that you would offer to a friend facing a challenge. 2. Stay Connected: Reach out to friends, family, or members of the Spark community for support. Social connections are vital for our mental health, providing a sense of belonging and emotional support. Whether it's a phone call, a virtual hangout, or a socially distanced outdoor activity, nurturing relationships can boost our mood and resilience. Don't hesitate to lean on your support network when you're feeling overwhelmed or in need of a listening ear. 3. Prioritize Self-Care: Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. This looks different for everyone, so find activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Whether it's taking a bubble bath, going for a nature walk, indulging in a hobby you love, or simply curling up with a good book, carving out time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation is essential for maintaining balance and reducing stress. Remember, taking care of your mental health is not selfish - it's necessary. By incorporating these simple steps into our lives, we can cultivate greater resilience, happiness, and overall well-being. Let's spark a positive change in our community by prioritizing our mental wellness together! #SparkMentalWellness #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthMonth *Sacramento Valley Spark, inspired by the 10 Principles of Burning Man, unites the local community through art and positive change.
