“Direct 2 Device” is building momentum across the sector, a strong collaborative foundation is needed, to create the Mobile Satellite Service equivalent of OpenRAN. (Open Random Access Network - where any mobile phone user can access signal from any mast, irrespective of supplier or vendor) With 15 billion IoT devices already in circulation - forecasted to double within 80 months - the need for all Mobile Satellite Services and terrestrial Mobile Network Operators to co-create ONE interoperable, consumer friendly, method or standard seems obvious. In the interests of transparency, Space Aye’s real-time satellite imagery merged with IoT data strategy, will also benefit from this paradigm shift. But this is bigger than self interest, this is a multi-sector win-win, which will have significant societal and commercial benefits.
