Which rack design should I use? It’s common for structural castings to undergo heat treatment. During the long process, casting stresses are relieved & the component suffers distortion due to creep. Different support structures lead to differences in distortions because of how the casting relaxes in the structure. In this example, the shock tower is placed in 2 rack designs. The resulting deviation is different depending on the structure used. 2moThe rack design could pay more attention to the mounting hole areas which needed to assembly with mating components. Based on our aluminunm structural casting and heat treatment expereince, the marjor challenge is to make sure the casting can acheive good material properties also with less deformation to meet functional requirement.
