#WeRemember. The day our city was changed forever. Theresa is a remarkable example of resiliency, just like our city has been. If you get a chance, read her #SurvivorStory in the link below.
29 years ago, our community was forever changed. #WeRemember those who were killed on April 19, 1995, and pay tribute to the brave and selfless first responders who confronted danger head-on. We are honored to have Theresa Howell, a MACU staff member and Oklahoma City bombing survivor, share her remarkable story. Theresa believes good things come with tragedy — her faith only grew stronger after that fateful day: "I always look for the light in any dark situation because, with the grace of God, there is always light and His blessings." 🙏 Click here to read Theresa's full story: https://bit.ly/3Uojp0b

Airmen deserve the right to the freedoms they fight for. This senseless murder could have been avoided. 📢 A mother is grieving the unimaginable loss of her son, Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson, who was tragically murdered in his own home by those sworn to protect him. This heartbreaking incident hits close to home, especially on Mother's Day weekend. ✅ It is essential to address the many wrongs that occurred in this case and reflect on some key thoughts: 1️⃣ It is deeply disturbing that an American Airman was murdered in his own home by those who were supposed to ensure his safety. The second amendment protects this Airman and after viewing the bodycam, his firearm was pointed downward with no resistance. The officer reacted in fear instead of responding. 2️⃣ It is important for everyone, especially white individuals, to understand that calling the police on a Black person, even for assistance, can have fatal consequences. 3️⃣ "Karen's" or individuals who make biased or discriminatory calls should be held partially responsible for any harm caused. Perhaps we should consider involving multiple citizens in qualifying a "welfare check." 4️⃣ Police officers must receive proper support for PTSD, Trauma counseling and undergo bias training. Experiencing regular violent situations can have significant physical and psychological effects that need professional attention. 5️⃣ Officers should be trained in effective de-escalation techniques that are equitable and applicable to all situations. 6️⃣ The lack of accountability for law enforcement officers involved in cases concerning Black individuals is unacceptable. We need systemic changes in law enforcement training and accountability to address this issue. We must demand better accountability and systemic change. Airman Fortson deserves justice, and his grieving mother deserves answers. As a mother of a Black and Hispanic Army Warrant Officer around the same age, this incident deeply concerns me. 📰 Read more about this tragic incident: [Link to the news article](https://lnkd.in/g-vWQ5hP) #JusticeForAirmanFortson #SystemicChange #Accountability

**Remembering 9/11: A Day of Reflection and Resilience** Today marks the anniversary of one of the most somber days in modern history—September 11, 2001. It’s a day that forever changed the world, a day when the unthinkable happened, and yet, amidst the tragedy, a profound sense of unity, courage, and hope emerged. On this day, we honor the lives lost—the innocent civilians, the brave first responders, and all those whose futures were cut short. We remember the families who have endured unimaginable grief and the communities that came together in the face of fear and uncertainty. In the years since, 9/11 has come to symbolize more than just the tragedy of that fateful day. It serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. The countless acts of bravery, kindness, and selflessness displayed in the aftermath remind us that even in our darkest moments, light can be found through solidarity and compassion. As we reflect today, let us also acknowledge the sacrifices made by so many in the pursuit of peace and security. Let us continue to support the survivors, the families of the victims, and the heroes who worked tirelessly in the days, weeks, and years following the attacks. In remembering 9/11, we are reminded of the importance of unity, not just in times of crisis but every day. Our shared humanity is what will always carry us forward. #NeverForget #September11 #Unity #Resilience #Hope

The impact of war on animals is a topic that often gets overlooked in discussions about the consequences of conflict. However, animals are often caught in the crossfire of war, suffering from injury, displacement, and even death. As humans engage in armed conflict, the welfare and safety of animals is commonly sidelined. Animals may also become victims of human violence, either intentionally targeted or unintentionally harmed during battles. Additionally, the impact of war on animals extends beyond physical harm. The displacement of communities due to conflict can lead to people fleeing their homes, often being forced to leave their beloved companions behind. Cats and dogs play a crucial role in helping soldiers cope with the challenges and trauma of war. As loyal companions, they provide emotional support and comfort to soldiers who may be experiencing loneliness, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder. The presence of an animal can offer a distraction from the harsh realities of combat and serve as a reminder of the importance of companionship. Overall, the impact of war on animals highlights the interconnectedness of all living beings and the need for greater consideration of their welfare during times of conflict. #AnimalWelfare #AnimalProtection

<Rule of Tyrants, Part2> Have the outside agitators guided us to a moment in time where an American conflagration will spread like wildfire with violent outcomes because, as a nation and a nation’s peoples, we have lost our convergence on the central thoughts of Liberty and the responsibilities concomitant to maintaining a government? Be certain, good honest people with decent common values will not patiently wait forever for the agitators to align with Reason. Not forever. No one wishes for war on their own soil, but war, bellum, comes when Peace is no longer possible. ‘De Oppresso Liber’ is not a battle cry; ‘De Oppresso Liber’ is a warning, the very promise to Tyrants everywhere abroad AND at home. Tyrant, deter yourself, or know that the Truth found in hearts of strong Americans will coalesce and burn through your miasma in a moment. </Rule of Tyrants, Part2>
