This lady launched instant cake mixes in the 1950s. She failed. She wanted to simplify the lives of American housewives, but the housewives? Didn’t really like the mixes. They made things too easy, and housewives felt underappreciated as they would have nothing to do. But she didn’t give up. She then changed the recipe to require adding an egg. It worked. Sales went off the charts. Why? • We place a higher value on things we help create. • We want to feel like our effort was worth it. • We have a psychological need to feel competent. Folláin Christmas Spiced Marmalade - Perfect with the brown bread but this one is for my dad, notoriously difficult to buy for but a huge marmalade lover. Something small but thoughtful to throw in with some gifts for him. Also perfect for the breakfast table Christmas morning too. Lilly O'Briens chocolates. A box of these makes a lovely token gift for the lollipop lady who's always there in the morning, the teacher or just someone who you want to buy for but don't really know what they like. Keogh's Multipack Crisps €3.99 - Not sure about other houses but in mine, when doubt about a difficult person to buy a gift for, give them crisps. My hubbie's favourite so ideal to get my kids to wrap up as a token present from them to him on Christmas day. This pack wont last beyond teatime in our house. Ballymaloe Foods Gift Pack - This is a lovely gift pack of different Ballymaloe Foods, which includes original, pepper and fiery relish, as well as cranberry sauce, mint jelly, mayonnaise and Irish Stout Sauce. I picked it up in Dunnes Stores and at under €7 and with a really neat gift box, its perfect. So, gifting thoughtfully, using some amazing food and drinks products available from Irish brands doesn't have to break the bank but it will put a smile on people's faces.

I am high-key obsessed with Olipop—both the brand and the beverage. It’s my daily treat. My happy hour drink of choice. And my go-to cure for migraine-related nausea. Two of their 2024 campaigns have absolutely delighted me. How to choose the perfect tea gift when you know nothing about tea.   Joyce was looking for a tea themed gift for her tea-loving friend’s birthday. Not knowing where to start, she asked me for help.
