Following the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump, security analysts have been asking a single question: How did this happen? There is a slew of possible reasons and security shortfalls that might have played a role in giving the gunman their opportunity, and it seems those on Capitol Hill agree. Yesterday, U.S Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, announced her resignation. The decision comes after days of intense scrutiny from lawmakers who insisted the incident on July 13, 2024, could have been avoided with better executive protection protocols in place. We believe better perimeter control, more attentiveness to the crowd, and greater cooperation with local law enforcement might have deprived the gunman of their opportunity. What do you think? Could the Secret Service have done more? And if so, what would you have done differently? There is much criticism of former President Trump’s security and such an event will quite rightly be subject to severe scrutiny and there is justifiable concern over the pre-clearance of the event. What is clear though is that at the actual moment of incident that the three immediate security members, closest to President Trump reacted quickly, jumped up onto the stage to get to him and protected him with their bodies, until they received the message that the shooter was down, before they attempted to move him – it was approximately 2.5 seconds from when the shot rings out to the agents being on top of him after moving from their initial positions – it was 1.5 seconds approximately from when former President Trump touched his ear - the video below confirms this. The immediate security detail responded quickly and were prepared to sacrifice their lives and bodies to protect former President Trump and they have my utmost respect for it. Whether they should have had to do that is the critical point, with regards to looking at this incident from the planning, resourcing and training needs perspective. #Trump #security #assassin #politics https://lnkd.in/gdH-33m6

EVENT AND EVERYDAY PEOPLE PROTECTOR | Security Lead | Community Security Advisor (Safety Creator) Equals: A Different Kind of Protector.
Protective Paradox. If someone thinks the person he or she hired for protection is an idiot because of chosen profession, what kind of fool does that make one doing the hiring? Protection commentators like Byron Rodgers and Damian Bunting, #AtypicalSecurityGuard host of #SecurityGuardChannel warn https://lnkd.in/dce9WQ_8 #protectors to manage their expectations and adjust to workplaces that don't want their input. I hear their advice but it goes against my nature to be mistreated like I'm less than who I am ESPECIALLY while risking my Big Three (Life, Liberty and Liability) on behalf of others. To me and many out there, #protectors are more valuable than princes, princesses, prime ministers and potentates because without protection, ivory towers and palaces are torn down, often with trapped so-called VIPs trapped inside them.
