I often get asked why Advocacy, well this article is one of the reasons. I come across stories like this all the time and it makes my blood boil. I have to try and help the ones that don't fit a criteria of a particular charity or organisation. I have to make that difference. I am different I don't have a criteria other than get a positive outcome for my clients. However, I do respect the work of charities and organisations. One size does not fit all. Today marks the start of #SmallCharityWeek, which is a chance for the 96% of voluntary organisations in the UK that are categorised as small charities to collectively amplify our voices and highlight the support we give to the local communities we're part of. Cost of living pressures, layered on top of the lasting effects of the pandemic and following 10 years of austerity, means inequalities in communities are widening and there is increasing demand on small charity services like ours. In parallel, the cost of delivering services is going up and raising funding is more challenging, with increased competition and inflation eroding the value of income. We rely on fundraising to be able to deliver our services for women and children in Swale and beyond. Can you help us? YMCA England & Wales believes in fairness and opportunity. There are essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities. Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. YMCA provides these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community. Each month throughout the year, R&C will donate £500 to a different charity. The charity will be chosen by our staff and will be chosen based on the work they do being close to the hearts of people within our business.
