This morning, I took my kids to the first day of school, like many parents today. Tension, stress, awkwardness, nervousness, ... and those were just my feelings ... Watching them step on to the kindergarten playground without much hesitation, made me feel proud. Another year of learning and growing has started. As James Clear wisely said, "Getting one percent better every day counts for a lot in the long run." If we would take before/after pictures of the coming school year, the evolution captured would be tremendous! Crazy how much we can learn from these kids mentality. Whether it's our kids absorbing new knowledge or us striving to improve in our own lives, those small, daily efforts add up to significant progress over time. #FirstDayOfSchool #AtomicHabits #ContinuousImprovement #GrowthMindset #Parenting

#LearnAndGrow Today, we honor not just our teachers in our schools and classrooms, but all the teachers in our lives — parents, friends, and even our children. Each of them plays a vital role in shaping who we are and who we aspire to be. From the moment we take our first steps, our parents guide us with love and wisdom. They teach us values, resilience, and the importance of kindness. Let’s take a moment to appreciate their sacrifices and the lessons they continue to impart. Our friends challenge us, inspire us, and teach us about loyalty and empathy. They remind us that learning doesn’t stop in the classroom; it’s a lifelong journey. Cherish those friendships that push you to grow and see the world through different lenses. In their pure curiosity and unfiltered honesty, children teach us to see the world anew. They remind us to ask questions, embrace wonder, and find joy in the simplest things. Let’s learn from their perspective and keep our hearts open to new experiences. To all the teachers out there—thank you for your dedication and passion. You ignite the spark of curiosity and empower us to chase our dreams. Your impact goes far beyond textbooks; you shape futures and inspire generations. Let’s celebrate the lessons we learn from everyone around us. Embrace the wisdom in every interaction and recognize that education is a collective journey. #LearnAndGrow #TeachersOfLife #ParentingWisdom #FriendshipGoals #ChildrensLessons #LifelongLearning #GratitudeForTeachers #MentorshipMatters #GrowthMindset #InspirationDaily #CuriosityDriven #EmpathyInAction #LoveAndKindness #WisdomFromParents #FriendshipJourney #JoyfulLearning #LessonsFromKids #OpenYourHeart #EmbraceNewPerspectives #CelebrateGrowth #AppreciateTeachers #TogetherWeLearn #ShapingLives #ValueFriendship #FamilyValues #TeachAndLearn #MindfulParenting #HonestConversations #ExploreWithKids #PositiveImpact

Did you know that depression and anxiety in children often stem from academic pressure and fear of failure? As an educator and reading specialist for over two decades, I've witnessed countless children struggling under the weight of academic expectations. I understand this deeply because I lived it. Growing up, I pushed myself relentlessly to earn acceptance through perfect grades. This pursuit of perfection led me down a dark path of depression and anxiety. Fortunately for me, there was a turning point. My love for learning became my lifeline, transforming my relationship with education and life itself. This transformation inspired me to dedicate my life to advocate for children to experience learning with joy, not as a source of stress and fear. For nearly 20 years as a volunteer supporting children from low-income families, and 10 years professionally supporting children with reading challenges, I've developed strategies that make learning joyful and meaningful. I've seen children blossom from reluctant learners into confident, enthusiastic ones. Carol Dweck, renowned for her work on Growth Mindset, highlights how children who develop a love for learning early tend to become more resilient, resourceful, and optimistic. They learn not for grades or approval, but for the pure joy of discovery. This shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset transforms their entire approach to learning and life. This is why I'm passionate about sharing these proven strategies with parents. Because every child deserves to experience learning as an adventure, not a burden. I'm excited to announce that I'll be hosting a special webclass soon on "How to Nurture Success Beyond Grades in Your Child and Discover the Missing Piece to Family Harmony." Stay tuned for the announcement! In this transformative session, you'll discover how to unleash your child's natural love for learning and create lasting family harmony. Together, let's transform learning from gloom to joy, one child at a time. Want to be the first to know when registration opens? Follow me for updates!

Have you ever heard of unschooling? It's the educational philosophy that we follow as a family with three kids. There are some (many? most?) things about it that are incredible, but there are also aspects that make life hard. In case you aren't familiar, here's a quick rundown. Unschooling is a child-led approach to education that emphasizes natural learning through life experiences, interests, and activities rather than following a structured curriculum. It's about trusting that children will learn what they need to know when they are ready and interested. What we love about it: ❤️ It really seems to foster a love of learning. 🧡 We are able to focus on skills like critical thinking, social and emotional intelligence, and consent and respect. 💛 It builds a lot of confidence and independence. 💚 Each kid is able to learn and live in the way that suits them. 💙 There is so much flexibility and freedom. Although super rewarding, it's a heavy load from the parenting perspective. It really requires a lot of intentional time and energy to help your kids pursue and deep dive into the many things that interest them. A while back, I posted about how my son Elliott wanted to create a business plan to get more voice-over work so that he can make enough money to buy a Gibson Les Paul. Maria Pendolino offered him a gratis business planning meeting. She even sent him homework before they met so that he would be prepared for the meeting. Now, I am pretty sure Maria was not unschooled, but the way she was with Elliott was incredible: 🔹 She was respectful and talked to him like she would an adult. 🔹 She had high expectations of him. 🔹 She helped him create manageable goals and a solid plan to reach them. 🔹 She taught him computer research skills, spreadsheet skills, and time management. 🔹 She gave him homework and helped him find ways to be respectful of his mom’s time! It was awesome. These are the things that make this kind of education work: people who are experts willing to take the time to help a kid they don’t know learn about the things they care about. Do I sound a little bit verklempt? I am. Parenting is really freaking hard. Having really amazing help carrying the load is an indescribable gift. #unschooling #businessplan
