Based on research EQ Bank | Equitable Bank commissioned, we learned that only half the country knows how much interest they earn on chequing account deposits, and another half are dissatisfied with their bank’s financial incentives. Part of this disconnect is simple – most banks offer little-to-no interest on chequing accounts while also charging fees. Another challenge? Many people stay with their first-ever accounts. This combination often means Canadians aren’t aware that there are better banking options available to help them. EQ Bank strives to be a part of the solution, so I'm pleased to share that we’ve increased the interest (now 4%!) that customers can earn on their everyday accounts when they direct deposit their pay cheque.
