Hemorrhagic bowel syndrome (HBS) is a disease affecting lactating dairy cattle, characterized by segmental hemorrhage and luminal clot formation in the small intestine ¹. Although, Clostridium perfringens and Aspergillus fumigatus have been associated with HBS, the pathogenesis and cause are currently unknown ¹. Symptoms include signs of intestinal obstruction with severe weakness, followed by rapid clinical deterioration, resulting in death within 12–48 hours if left untreated ².
