Celebrating #SmallBusinessWeek with a Spotlight on #Sustainability! Our portfolio company, Compass Systems & Sales, LLC, specializes in the design, manufacturing and installation of complex material handling systems, with a focus on pneumatic conveyance systems. Compass’ core product, automotive body sheet scrap segregation systems, allows for closed-loop segregation of aluminum and steel body sheet scrap generated during the stamping process, maximizing scrap value for its customers, enhancing profitability, and keeping costs down for the ultimate end consumer of the vehicles. The systems meticulously sort various grades of aluminum scrap, ensuring that the aluminum can be recycled indefinitely without losing its chemical properties. Recycling aluminum uses only about 5% of the energy required to produce primary aluminum, making it a sustainable choice for businesses. We would like to celebrate Compass on driving positive change and look forward to future success.

Sustainability at ARNOLD When it comes to sustainability, the key question our customers ask themselves is: How can we minimise our carbon footprint in the use of a product? We have the answer: ARNOLD fasteners not only help you save carbon in highly crucial components but also lower costs and increase performance. Instead of machining, we form our products, saving on materials. Moreover, in many cases, thread-forming screws can replace conventional threaded screws – reducing production costs and cutting down on materials and weight. To put it in the words of Michael Pult (Director Marketing & Sustainability at ARNOLD Umformtechnik) ⬇️ #arnoldfastening #sustainability

One of the most interesting facts about hot runner systems is their ability to virtually eliminate material waste in plastic injection molding👀 Unlike traditional cold runner systems, which produce excess plastic in the form of sprue, runners, and gates that often need to be discarded or recycled, hot runner systems keep the plastic within the runner heated and molten. This means that nearly all of the injected material goes into creating the actual part, reducing waste and improving efficiency. This makes hot runners a key component in creating more sustainable and cost-effective manufacturing processes. #tooling #hotrunner #plasticinjectionmoulding

At LINDEMANN, we're not just recycling scrap; we're shaping the future of the automotive industry. ♻ Ever wondered about the lifecycle of a car? 🔄 From production to rebirth, here's how we're making a difference: 🔧 Production Phase: During car manufacturing, scrap metal accumulates. That's where LINDEMANN steps in with our Balers like the LINDEMANN EtaPress, transforming scrap into steel bales ready for reuse! 🌱 Removal of Valuable Parts: Say goodbye to abandoned vehicles! We salvage valuable components to be used in other ways, reducing the amount of valuable scrap heading to the landfill and limiting the need for new materials. 🔨 Pre-shredding & shredding: Our EtaRip Pre-shredder, recognized as the world's #1 pre-shredder, efficiently breaks down scrap for reuse. And, with our ZZ shredder, the scrap is further processed into steel, contributing to the 20% of new cars made from remolded scrap! Here, you can find out more elementary facts about our enormous machines: 👉 https://lnkd.in/gmfUiXnE Join us in driving forward the automotive industry. Many years ago I worked with an excellent business consultant whose first step, when he visited any business, was to look in the scrap bins. He said that you can learn a great deal about a company from this apparently simple observation. The most obvious point is that if there are many of the same parts scrapped (not the case in this photo), it is clear that there is not a robust process for identifying and rectifying problems early enough. Other issues can include looking at how many process steps (and hence value added) have been completed before the item has been scrapped. In this photo, for example, there are fortunately no cases of post-bending machining or hole-drilling prior to scrapping. A further consideration is whether components have been separated to facilitate recycling. My consultant friend would then be checking to see if there was a process in place to investigate the cause of every scrapped component and implement preventive action. Even where the cause is development of new jobs, as is the case for most of the items in the Listertube scrap bin, there are many things that can be put in place to get the first trial piece closer to the final specification, thus saving cost and maximising sustainability. Reject components (so long as you don't have too many, and that you capture them before they leave for the customer!) are a great source of continuous improvement and business efficiency ideas. To this day I still enjoy looking in the scrap bins! #listertube #fastfriendlyreliable #ukmanufacturing

Because TOMRA is an automatic plastic sorting machine, 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 is important to maintain its sorting accuracy and efficiency. ⚫ Plants experience a reduction in per tonne price through contamination and mixed material; the root cause is dirty belts with large volumes of sticky organic material stuck to the belt. This results in the belts losing their natural clean black colour which causes the optical sorting machine to struggle to separate material correctly as it works to identify the plastic colours against the dirty belts.
