As I’ve been watching my kids mastering the art of skiing during my winter holiday this week, it struck me how akin their journey is to the remarkable development I’ve witnessed in salespeople throughout my career. Just like my young, enthusiastic and ambitious daughters conquering the slopes, I’ve watched, and coached, many sales professionals navigate through challenges, adapt to ever-changing terrains, and build resilience with every twist and turn. A bit like a triumphant downhill run, each well thought out, well planned sales approach and every closed deal in sales brings a sense of accomplishment (and joy). Just like my kids as they refine their techniques, I love to watch the salespeople in my teams hone their skills, learn from experiences and embrace new strategies to navigate the complexities of the market. And winning! The parallel between the two is uncanny – the determination to overcome obstacles, the thrill of mastering new skills, and the sheer joy of achieving goals. Here’s to celebrating the continuous growth, adaptability, and triumphs in both learning to ski and mastering the intricate art of sales! Bad things happen to even the most experienced backcountry skiers, but being prepared will mitigate a lot of risk. The same goes for going out on your own. New Year. New YOU! 🎉 Loved hearing this story from Kevin Mbaki over the weekend! Breaking into a new career in tech sales is great but there are also SO many other things in life that are also great (like skiing)! ⛷ ❄️ Kevin mentioned how he had always been nervous to ski because he saw it as "cold and dangerous". And then he wrote this over the weekend: "The point I’m trying to make here is; the more you tell yourself you can’t do something, the more you’re going to believe it... Never in my life did I think I’d ski and on top of that, do mid level runs. But by having the right people around me and telling myself I can break my limitations, I did." 💯 A lot of what we teach through the Sales Dojo course is also focused on having the right approach and mentality to sales (and to life).
