I recently, out of curiosity, did a trend analysis for #Zimsec #OLevel Pass Rates (1984 - 2023). So many things worth discussing from this line chart about the #education sector in #Zimbabwe. One particularly of concern is how low the pass rates have typically been. The pass rate hasn't yet even reached a mere 40 percent over all these years. Yet nowadays it's kind of a norm to hear of students getting 15 A's, 20 A's and what nought. A stark contrast against the low overall pass rates. What do you make of all this? NTI, Benha University Ink Agreement to Boost Technology Research, Youth Training in Nile Delta The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) has signed an agreement with Benha University to strengthen collaboration in scientific research, supervision, and capacity building in technology fields. The signing ceremony was attended by officials and professors from both NTI and the university. The agreement is part of the ongoing collaboration between Benha University and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to develop specialists in various technology sectors, equip youth with future-ready skills, and improve their employability. NTI and Benha University will work together to provide hands-on training for the university’s students, graduates, and young people in Benha. The training will be delivered through programs designed by field experts to prepare youth for the ICT labor market. The two sides will also cooperate in scientific research and supervision of academic theses, as well as organize joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and other activities. This initiative is a significant step in advancing digital capacity building in the Nile Delta region. When we talk about pride of our education system like IITs/IIMs etc, question comes why a taxpayer would spend so much money on IITs while most of them will join foreign companies. If you see ISRO like institutions are run by non-IITans. So we don't have lack of talent but if you get an opportunity to study from IIT/IIM what you return to society? Either make them pay for the education and join foreign company as their wish or they serve for nation at least first few years like doctors do.
