🚀 Maintaining a Revit model ensures accuracy, performance, and usability throughout the project lifecycle. As a BIM Coordinator, I prioritize creating a model maintenance checklist and promoting good modelling practices within the team for optimal Revit performance and a more cohesive team environment. 📋 Here's a sample checklist for BIM teams to adopt: Daily: 🟢 Ensure elements are on the correct workset by assigning colour options to various element groupings for easy identification. 🛠️ Address Revit warnings immediately—don’t ignore them! 🚫 Minimize in-place families and groups; use families for Detail & Model groups instead. 🗑️ Remove working views and reference planes that are no longer in use. Weekly: 💾 Make a model backup—save locally or use ACC/BIM360 publishing to maintain different versions. 🔍 Review, remove, and accept design options and links. 🛠️ Compact the model by synchronizing and compacting the central model. Project Milestones: 🧹 Purge the file of any unused elements. 🔍 Ensure families have appropriate detail levels. 🗂️ Archive the model with a sheet set. 2moGood summary. Families that contain untold hidden geometry (that don't offer anything beyond impressive 'drafting' ability) need to be challenged in all their guises. Allow the parameters to capture the useful #data and anything that doesn't affect spatial coordination isn't needed. I'd also proffer that #IFC alleviates the interoperability issue but that may prove a little controversial.
