A journey from non-profit to business. Bokgoni Corporate Institute to ATA Training Academy. A 14 year pause!!! The pause served as an incubation process helping to transition what started as an NGO idea into business!!!! Without the pause the idea would not have enlarged as it has....appreciate pauses. They service the pivot. They are a necessary building block to your next. #Welcomethepause. #BecomingATA. #Foundingstory. #Originstory. #20yearsinthemaking.

Should non-profits get a discount? For the life of GMass, non-profits have been given an automatic 15% discount off all plans, but I'm wondering if continuing this program makes sense. The discount is applied automatically to anyone who signs up with a .org or .edu address, but here's why I'm thinking of ending it: 1. A non-profit doens't necessarily have less financial means than a for-profit company. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation doesn't need a discount. 2. A bootstrapped startup, likely using a .com, co., or .ai address is more likely in need of a discount than a non-profit. 3. Plenty of cold emailers, who are using GMass for profit, register .org domains as part of their deliverability strategy. 4. Our prices are already on the lower end of the ESP industry. Do YOU give discounts to non-profits?

As most of you know, I run a non-profit for children in Dominica. It started in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in early 2018 and has evolved into where we are today. What began as helping the country rebuild, developed into supporting young children in (re)building their self-confidence through creativity. We are a registered NGO in the Netherlands and decided it was time to apply for local registration. Anyone who has moved to a different country knows that it is an incredible experience and can be challenging at the same time. Now imagine setting up a non-profit in another country on another continent. The Netherlands and Dominica are miles apart, literally, and culturally. It takes courage to follow your heart and navigate an unfamiliar way of doing things. There were times when I questioned myself on why I started this in the first place. The waiting, the endless phone calls, the not knowing if and when you will receive an answer. It brought me back to my reason why, the children are why I keep going. When I see their smiles, receive numerous hugs, and see them dancing, that lifts my spirit every time. Not to mention the endless works of art and the children working on pronouncing my name, which always makes me smile. 😉 When I started my NGO, I never even thought it would not work out as envisioned. I’ve learned firsthand the unique challenges and exhilarating triumphs that come with turning a vision into reality. I often wished I had a sparring partner to provide guidance and support during those times. I am grateful for the support, direction, and sometimes the tough love from mentors and fellow entrepreneurs that kept me grounded and inspired me to believe in myself and my ideas. 🌍✨ Now, I am honored to pay it forward by supporting others on their entrepreneurial journey. Being a sparring partner means more than just offering advice; it’s about: 🤝 Providing a Listening Ear: Sometimes, all it takes is someone who understands to listen and offer encouragement. 🧩 Strategizing Together: Brainstorming ideas and crafting strategies to tackle challenges and seize opportunities. 💪 Being a Sounding Board: Offering constructive feedback and playing devil’s advocate to ensure all angles are considered. 🌱 Encouraging Growth: Helping startups and NGOs develop resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset. 🏆 Celebrating Wins: Sharing in the joy of milestones achieved, no matter how small they may seem. To all the passionate entrepreneurs and change-makers out there: remember, you don’t have to walk this path alone. Seek out mentors, build a strong support network, and always believe in the power of your vision. Looking for guidance, support, or just someone to brainstorm with? Connect with me, and let’s make a meaningful impact together! 💡🌟 #SparringPartner #Entrepreneurship #NGO #Mentorship #SmallBusiness #GlobalExperience #ImpactfulChange #PayItForward #Leadership
