*Civil engineers shortage* Toady our industry is facing lot of issues to get good skilled manpower. Here the word good skilled manpower is very important. Disconnect of industry and academic created this situation that very few are interested in admissions to basic core engineering branches. Industrial growth is higher and they require combination of skills like hands on software knowledge , good basics and soft skills. As industry needs are changing rapidly and institutes are not well connected gap is increased to such level that many industries stated their training facilities as per their requirements. Even most of the engineers also thinking that they will be trained by the hiring company. This situation is tackled by big companies by setting up own facilities of training. But small ani medium scale companies are struggling to handle this problem. After new education policy short training courses for ( industry specific or job specific) will have in demand which will help students to grab the jobs. Hoping some more changes in organisations mindset also and shortage is going to increase definitely. The companies will have to increase salaries for good people and also keeping sufficient staff so that demand of increased working hours can be compensated. For our recent post construction audit work we were asked to use Smartsheets to document potential infractions using Smartsheets. Smartsheets is basically a custom made form that is filled out, submitted, which then populates a spreadsheet on the customer's side. While it has its place, we didn't find that it was the most efficient tool to use for the audit. Below we wanted to offer an example of one of our jobs on the Katapult Pro platform which we customized to reflect the customer's needs. The data collected in Katapult can be exported to an excel spreadsheet just like Smartsheets. The photos are there to show the infraction. And then the job can then be shared to the construction company to revisit those sites. We could also further filter / highlight data using custom logic to emphasize certain infractions that may require more urgency than others. Have a great weekend!
