I don't instantly get Brit humour. But this is a particularly funny one from the series 'It's always Burberry weather' As a brand, Burberry is facing some financial troubles with a 4% drop in revenue and a 70% drop in its share price during this year. However, its commendable that the brand is taking things seriously and finding new ways to revitalize its product. I didn't quite get all of the films from this campaign, but there is a very sophisticated British humour. Taking a dig at their unpredictable weather. There is no mention of the product or any overt branding. They are almost like mini-series / stories about the characters. And to me, this is about building a long term brand equity and not letting the current noise corner you into taking short term ineffective measures. Though was it potentially too narrow in intended audiences, who wouldn't pick up the subtle humour? It was our 12th wedding anniversary yesterday. And I forgot until about 3pm. But that's okay. Because he forgot until 3.01 when I reminded him. So we both forgot. Together. And that's fine because it aligns with the culture of us. Some things are non negotiable. Like honesty. And being unselfish. AND REMEMBERING TO TURN THE TAP FULLY OFF PETER. But other things like making a big deal out of wedding anniversaries aren't that important to us. So it's cool 😎 Our culture works. Not because everything is forever perfect 100 percent forever and ever, amen. But because we are aligned on what can be neglected and what absolutely has to be nurtured. That's how culture works.
