Time for a repeat of an old Uncle Dave's Rants and Raves post ... today I received an Illustrator file where the customer used "opacity" instead of adjusting the Color swatch to a screen tint percentage. In Flexo/Direct Printing, Opacity/Transparancy is NOT the same as a Screen Tint value. A 10% Opacity of a color will give a very different result than a 10% Value of a Spot color. VERY different. If you want to make a Solid color a lighter shade, use the slider to adjust the color. Do NOT make it 10% Opaque.

Didyou know that digital printing and embroidery are two popular techniques used in the lawn fabric industry to create beautiful and intricate designs? Digital printing involves using a computer to directly print the desired pattern onto the fabric, resulting in vibrant colors and detailed designs. On the other hand, embroidery adds a luxurious touch by sewing thread into the fabric to create raised patterns and textures. Understanding these techniques can help consumers make informed choices when selecting lawn fabric for their projects. Next time, consider the type and quality before making a purchase. #unstitchedelegance #yousafcloth #summer2024 #summerlawn #Summerunstitched #madewithpredisai

Our innovative VariaDot technology allows piezoelectric printheads to produce droplets of varying volumes on demand. This means our connected workflow software can specify the perfect droplet size for each specific image feature, ensuring superior image quality every time. - Fine details like small type or fine lines? We use very small droplets for precision. - Tonal transitions and quartertone values, such as skin tones? Medium-sized droplets for smooth gradients. - High-density areas like solid colors? Large droplets for bold coverage. Think of it like painting a room in your house. You’d use a large brush for quick coverage of big areas and a small brush for detailed trim work. VariaDot does the same, using the right droplet size for each image feature, delivering impeccable quality across the entire print. Experience the future of printing with VariaDot – where every drop counts! #CanonArizona

Any connections out there with ideas on how to apply logos to components? We have 6 sets of vac cast parts, painted white with a slight texture, that need logos applying. We’ve tried water transfer decals but it didn’t work well (could be an issue with decal, currently investigating with the supplier). Did consider rub downs but was concerned these didn’t give any adjustability during application. May have to compromise by getting a cut vinyl but the logo is 80mm diameter on the part with cut out sections. Does anyone do a machine that prints onto self adhesive film and cuts it? Like a printer cutter? In volume product we’ll go with a combo of screenprint and pad printing but it’s not practical for 6 off. What do other do, and are there any recommendations for potential suppliers?

Print is a whole other world. If you’ve only done digital design up to this point, you’re in for a learning curve. If you’re creating print designs, it’d be helpful to know offset, letterpress, embroidery, screen printing, and more. #SomedayHerPrintsWillCome #TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsPrints #PrintDesign
