Sometimes when we start to exercise or change our activities we can get some new sensations that may not be injuries per se but they may be signals that things may not be functioning the best. Here, I give a couple of examples of common “pains” people feel in the knees and lower back along with some ideas to explore to start to build a solution. Whether you love him or loathe him you can not deny that this man is a supreme athlete. The height on that jump is impressive enough but for me what’s more impressive is the landing. Lands on one leg at an angle and with just a touch of his hands on the floor he’s back up and running. Most of us would destroy our knee landing from that height and with all the rotational forces going on as well. CR7 is made from different stuff from most of us but don’t get me wrong, there is a LOT of work goes in to this. A LOT. Whilst you may not have any ambition of landing such a jump you can (and must) make your body more resilient to the risk of injury. Especially as we get older. Risk of injury can increase and not because we are getting older but because we allow ourselves to become weaker. It’s really important to continue with, or introduce, strength work to our weekly routine to build resilience and avoid the onset of age related conditions.
