🇮🇳 Disney-Reliance Joint Venture: Is India under LGBTQ-agenda danger?
💰 US Company Disney and India’s multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries struck a deal of $8.5bn, which has been tentatively approved by India's Competition Commission.
🏏 The JV’s monopoly on cricket and other major sports events broadcast rights raises concerns in India. Meanwhile, there has been ongoing criticism on the type of content being promoted by OTT platforms, that doesn’t align with Indian values, affecting the nation’s moral and cultural norms, by propagating LGBTQ agenda.
The mindset changing has already extended its reach through creating new ‘respect’ vocabulary for LGBTQIA+ community with the double meaning project – Words of Pride.
The glossary of over 246 words has been launched in seven regional languages (Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada and English), in September 2023.
🤡 In an interview with The Drum Minakshi Achan, Head - Brand and Creative Communications at the Disney Star, claimed that the new LGBTQ vocabulary would be used in every content of the channel.
Meanwhile, The Walt Disney Company is imbibing diverse and inclusive ethos, reflected in the stories, shows and within the working environment, Amita Maheshwari, Head – Human Resources, APAC & India, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, said.
🗣 “As India’s preferred broadcaster and streaming platform, we aim to enrich the viewing experience through authentic and inclusive stories, while nurturing a culture where everyone is seen, heard, and represented,” she stated.
