We love big numbers in the military (do you get the movie reference in the photo? 😅) The bigger the better for evaluations, awards and, #unfortunately, resumes My resume during the transition proudly said "I lead the operations for 17,000 people in 45 countries" ⭐No I didn't⭐ We had over 300 people in the INSCOM G3 Shop And 18 Command Teams at the brigade level...the vast majority of which were ADCON to us (meaning the ASCC they were aligned to told them what to do) So what did I actually lead as the G3 SGM? 🤔 I did a lot of stuff (it is still in my experience section), but I sure as heck didn't lead all of those people ... nor was I truly able to take credit for the things they accomplished #quinnsights So re-learning how to count as it applies to team members if a VERY important part of the transition Out here you take credit for: 1 - The people who you write evaluations (or feedback) for 2 - And then the stuff you actually did Not everything the company did So how many people do CSMs & SGMs actually lead? What about O-6 level Commanders? #militarytransition No trying to de-value you - just think in different terms and communicate it in a way that makes sense to non-military people And I spent 6+ hours handing my "17,000 people in 45 countries" resume around at a job fair without a single person/company showing interest Questions? Anything you would add?
