June is PRIDE month, and protecting LGBTQ+ youth from the risks involved with substance-use disorder (SUD) and addiction is paramount. According to SAHMSA, about one third of bisexual males, bisexual females, and gay males had an SUD in the past year. About one fourth of lesbian females had an SUD in the past year. These are just a few proven steps you can take to help prevent substance-use disorder in LGBTQ+ youth, whether you are an educator, service-provider, or just a friend.
