🌟 Reflections on Today's Interview Experience 🌟 Today marked an unexpected twist in my job-seeking journey, as I was asked to attend an in-person interview for a Social Media Manager position with very short notice. Despite having prior engagements, I decided to prioritize this opportunity, adjusting my commitments to make it possible. Upon arriving, the interview setup was quite unconventional - conducted openly in a space shared with other candidates and team members. This unique setup did not allow for a private or focused dialogue, which I found unconventional and challenging. The outcome? After reiterating my background and experiences (which had been thoroughly discussed during an initial phone screening), I was informed on the spot that my experience did not meet their requirements. This was puzzling and disappointing, especially since the need for specific experiences could have been clarified during the initial phone interview, sparing both parties time and effort. This experience brings to light an important issue: the importance of respect and consideration in the recruitment process. Both candidates and companies invest significant time, effort, and resources during the hiring process. Clear communication and mutual respect are essential from start to finish. Reflecting on today, I remain optimistic and view this as a learning opportunity. I am more committed than ever to finding a role that aligns perfectly with my skills and experiences, where mutual respect and transparency are at the core of the recruitment process. To my network: Let’s advocate for transparent and respectful hiring practices that help us all move forward in our careers with dignity and optimism. 💼🌐 #JobSearch #InterviewExperience #Recruitment #SocialMediaManagement #CareerDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #JobSeekersJourney #RecruitmentReality #InterviewInsights #CareerChallenges #TransparentHiring #RespectInRecruitment #SocialMediaJobs #HiringPractices #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalLife

I wanna share 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, possibly the only one I've ever had. What made it so impressive? To start, the recruiter from the agency who invited me was incredibly kind, always punctual, and provided all the necessary information about the role. Although it wasn't a globally renowned brand, the company had shown significant results and potential. However, it was the hiring manager who truly left a lasting impression on me. Here are some key aspects of his approach that made me feel truly valued: - He maintained very polite and respectful communication, 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 rather than just an employee reporting to a boss. - In our initial 30-minute meeting, he shared the company's story, provided detailed product descriptions, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲, and outlined the objectives for the upcoming year. - During our one-hour meeting, he started by 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿, inquired if I had any questions before we began, and assured me that he would be taking notes to avoid any confusion. - As we discussing my experience, after each of my responses, he offered feedback and shared his thoughts in a conversational manner, it was a dialogue rather than an interrogation. - Whenever he wanted further details or a different perspective in my answers, he asked me directly instead of speculating silently, as is often the norm. - At the end of our meeting, he provided me with a timeline for when he would get back to me with an answer. Even though we didn't progress further due to my location preferences, the feedback provided was comprehensive, highlighting what resonated with him and why I was a strong fit for the role. Throughout the process, I felt respected and valued, prompting me to ask, "Hey, guys, is it really that hard to implement such simple yet impactful practices that not only enhance your personal brand as a professional but also contribute to the company's overall success?" #JobInterview #InterviewExperience #HiringExcellence #RecruitmentBestPractices #HRBrand #CandidateExperience #InterviewTips #EmployerBranding #CommunicationMatters #JobHunt #CareerInsights #FeedbackMatters

▪︎ Personal Profile Marketing ▪︎ Job Search Acceleration Programs ▪︎ Communications & PR ▪︎ Media Contributor ▪︎ Debunking Ageism & Stereotypes
Are you jumping through unnecessary hiring hoops and losing confidence? Do you feel like a puppet on a string as you try and impress to land that coveted role? Are you willing to do almost anything to have an organisation. on your CV? If so you need to hold your nerve and reframe how you respond. Here are some strings that need a re-think: ▪️Goal posts and process criteria keep changing ▪️Excessive and ongoing interviews (suddenly there is yet ‘another person’ they want you to meet) ▪️Deck and presentation requests to address the companies actual issues, clients etc ▪️Demands to share your network IP ▪️Inadequate communications and feedback ▪️ Break timeline promises ▪️Lazy and poor communications ▪️Request for references upfront (come on there is LinkedIn) ▪️Ghosting behaviours RESPONDING TO IP PRESENTATION REQUESTS Declining any request always feels uncomfortable. And I get that the whole point of rigorous interviews is to prove worth and hire well. But many of the requests made should simply not ever be made at all (wise up hiring managers & employers). It can be a disguise for market intelligence gathering and lazy testing. To ask a professional with years of expertise and achievements to ‘prove’ their suitability by sharing their IP, concepts, networks and solutions is disrespectful nonsense. There are many clever and appropriate ways to get a sense of a person’s cognitive approaches and commercial thinking process without the potential for IP pillage. Essentially it’s supplying free consulting advice. Just like the request for ‘picking you brains’ – it’s a big no. There are 3 options as I see it. 1️⃣ Ask for written confirmation that any presentation you deliver will never be used by the organisation without a fee due to yourself. Obviously if you land the role, this is moot. 2️⃣ Decline a brief for their market but put forward a brief for a totally different sector or product. This demonstrates cognitive ability and creativity. 3️⃣ Ask for a consulting fee upfront which will be refunded if you land the role. Yes this is very bold, but hey, you need to demonstrate your negotiation and management skills at every opportunity. Read more : https://lnkd.in/gBn5NNDV #careers #jobinterviews #confidence

#recruitment #interviews #lookingforopportunities #respectful #rant Good morning wonderful people of Linkedin. How are we all, now I am by no means hard done by, fellow job seekers out there that are still seeking their dream job after 9/12 months. It's hard but stay humble and positive people. Just thought I would share something that I had last week, during an interview with a panel of four. Positions consisting of HR and Operations. Job description very closely aligned with previous role, skills and experience. Interview takes place virtually and to me going well. Answering all questions giving relevant skills, experience and scenarios to problems faced previously within the field of expertise and what I done to overcome these problems. Skills, experience, facts? what you would do in an interview right?. Mid way through the interview, i'm giving relevant facts of how I overcome some difficult situations previously. I then in the corner of my eye see the most senior member of the panel (operations) roll their eyes! OK we continue forget you seen that!! For what reason I will never know, was I rambling on to much for her liking due to my passion and expertise in that industry maybe. Point is the others on that panel had questions saying, "I had questions for you, but you've answered them for me within what you've said". Good thing then? point is sometimes others in power will act inappropriately to how they should in their positions, if there was an issue don't roll your eyes. Be human, have respect and address me in a manner where your issue can be spoken about and resolved.

You are wrong if you thought it’s the most qualified person that wins! In the world of recruitment, qualifications are important, but they’re not the only factor. It's all about how you present yourself ! Your skills and experience might be top-notch, but if you can't showcase your value effectively, you might miss out on great opportunities. Remember, interviews are your chance to shine. Focus on: i) Clear Communication: Articulate your thoughts and experiences confidently. ii) Storytelling: Share realtime stories that highlight your achievements and problem-solving abilities. iii) Personality: Let your unique personality and passion come through. iv) Preparation: Understand the company and role, and align your strengths with their needs. Don’t just be the most qualified, but also the most impressive candidate in the room. Your value is more than just what's on paper. The candidate who gets selected most is the one who presents the best. #JobHunt #InterviewTips #CareerAdvice #Recruitment

Hey LinkedIn family, It's interview time and the question is “Why do you think you are the best candidate for the role?” Here is a simple three-step guide to help you answer: 1. Know Yourself: As a job seeker, take the time to understand your skills and strengths. What unique qualities do you bring to the table? Be prepared to showcase how your abilities can benefit the company. 2. Know the Job: While highlighting your skillset, make sure to align this to the job. Use examples of how you are able to solve problems using your specific skills. Remember, most recruiters are looking for someone to solve job related challenges. 2. Know the Company: Research the company thoroughly before an interview. What values do they hold dear? What is their mission? Aligning your values with the company's values is a sign of a lasting partnership. key. The key to a successful hiring process is finding alignment between these three aspects. It's not just about fitting a role; it's about creating a dynamic and lasting connection. #InterviewPreparation #CareerGuidance #JobSearch

The interview is NEVER completely in your control. You do not control: ➼The hiring manager's personality ➼If another candidate has already be selected ➼What people think of you STOP focusing on what you do not control, focus on what you can control: ➼Your non-verbal communication ➼Your introduction ➼Your success stories ➼Your thoughtful questions at the end Practice until you can present your value with confidence and in a conversational tone. Accept what you can't change and never stop improving on what you can change. You will get the job offer. #usajobs #govtjobs

"𝐁𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧"—These Words Changed My Approach to Recruiting As recruiters, we hold the power to turn interviews into meaningful interactions, not just assessments. Balancing professionalism with empathy can create a profound impact. Here’s how we can achieve that: ➔ Start with a warm welcome and a smile😊. ➔ It sets a positive tone and helps candidates feel at ease. ➔ Understand the candidate’s journey and aspirations. ➔ Show genuine interest in their story 🌟. ➔ Encourage openness by being approachable and understanding 🤝. ➔ A relaxed candidate will showcase their true potential. Remember, interviews should be more than evaluations, they should be conversations. Let’s aim to blend professionalism with human connection: ➔ Share a bit about yourself to make the candidate feel comfortable 🤗. ➔ Clearly explain the process, timelines, and what they can expect. Honesty builds trust 🕒. ➔ Regardless of the outcome, provide feedback that helps candidates grow and improve 🌱. Because in the end, we’re not just filling positions. We’re building relationships and shaping futures. Let’s make every interview count. 𝐏.𝐒: 𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐲.
