One of the main reasons I love charity is because we all commit to serve . There is no discrimination or any gender roles . As Givers Of Hope, we are a community committed to serve vulnerable populations and mostly street children .We plan atleast 4 activities annually and atleast two capacity building activities.Serving is not only fulfilling, it is also benefitial. Other benefits of charity that have impacted my life : 1. learning how to appreciate your privileges 2.Gaining and sharing knowledge with diverse people. 3. Building valuable connections. 4. Learning the art of giving. 5. Expanding your horizons through traveling to new places hence broadening your perspective .

A report from the American Immigration Council found that 74% of Americans reported nonbelonging in their local community Why? The report blames digital mediums for breaking down communities. As a result, people don't show up in person anymore. This hits non-profits hard because they rely on community feeling to be effective. As many non-profits try to rebuild that sense of community, the reality is that most of the available tools are digital. Philanthropy.com reminds us people find giving fulfilling . . . once they are activated. Getting them engaged is the challenge. You get them engaged by showing them how your institution aligns with their vision and values. Young donors don't want to be "patrons". They want to be partners. Almost 40% of Gen-Z view donating as a form of self-expression. Giving furthers a passion by being part of the change. How will your institution build communities to make change? https://lnkd.in/eTkPR26Q

The Talent Tap has created a formula to meaningful change the prospects of young people from social mobility coldspots. Imagine you live in Lincolnshire, or Norfolk, and you have the potential to be a hotshot lawyer/banker/designer/product manager... How do you get any work experience? How do you get to the office? Where do you stay? What do you wear? How do you speak the language? We help remove all of these barriers for talented and driven students. AND we have new widget on our website allowing you to make a regular donation. It works. I just tried it! 🚀 #SocialMobility #Opportunity #Charity

Hello Community! You may notice I deleted the majority of my posts today. They contained links to a website I am taking down (vividimpact.ca). The Vivid Impact project was heavily focused on evaluation, which I am slowly but surely evolving away from in my professional practice. My professional experience in the non-profit sector has shown me that most evaluation and evaluation-capacity-building projects do not end up, despite best intentions, directly benefiting the non-profit sector and the marginalized groups they serve - for a variety of practical reasons. Rather, non-profits and marginalized groups end up being used as a source of data to advance others' work. That's not to say evaluations are not important ("Cherish those who pursue knowledge...", Voltaire), but they are no longer the focus of my work, personally. I now focus on helping non-profits achieve the goals and priorities they set for themselves, based on their professional experiences working with marginalized groups. I have started a new (very bare-bones still) website using the domain name for my company www.durlaksar.ca. Please note that all the evaluation resources I have created over the years are still available, so if you need any of them just contact me.
Welcome!

Non-profit org with 11 years of experience dedicated to empowering women in tech had to shut down. Who? Women Who Code While I am grateful that in Czechitas we can continue our mission, my heart goes out to the WWC comunity and the significant impact they've made. Allow me to use this tragedy to remind the world, Czechitas is not your regular business. We're not in this to make money. We are a non-profit. We are here to help. We are here to make a possitive impact. We believe in the power of education, diversity, and community to drive change in the tech sector and in society itself. If you believe in our cause, consider donating, volunteering, or spreading the word about Czechitas. Let's work together to build a more inclusive tech community. #DiversityInTech #NonProfit #SupportWomenInTech

If you are reading this my guess is that you are likely a driven career person who leads a full life. Volunteering probably seems like the last thing you can take on. I get it. But let me tell you why volunteering is the most selfish thing you can do in the least selfless way. Since joining AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter (Association of Fundraising Professionals) as VP of Community Engagement & Co-Chair of National Philanthropy Day, I have expanded my network, made connections that are more like friendships than work relationships, taken advantage of professional development courses, challenged my skillset (managing volunteers is much different than managing staff), grown as a leader all while making real impact. I feel like I am the one benefitting the most in this equation. It doesn’t matter how you give back. Only have time to bake cookies for the school’s fundraiser – amazing! (I also endorse buying them if that’s where you are at in life). You want to join a board that you have a meaningful connection with – incredible! You are sick of staring at the screen and feel inspired to do something completely different like community gardening – awesome! It truly doesn’t matter what you do, I promise it will give you more back than you can imagine. So, on National Volunteer Week ask yourself what can I do that will fill me up? It’s the best selfish selfless thing we can all do!
Thank you to our National Philanthropy Day and Giving Hearts Award co-chair, Alex! Alex Wilson, Director of Communications, The Discovery Group AFP, VP of Community Engagement Alex has been a part of AFP for seven years and a volunteer for two years. I love fundraisers and professionals working in the non-profit sector – they are my people! There’s no better way to make new connections than being a part of AFP. Also AFP provides the best professional development and is a great resource. There is such incredible work being done in our communities and its important to highlight the impact and celebrate together as a sector. Being an AFP volunteer is a great opportunity to build your professional network, meet inspiring people, expand your skillset, all while giving back to the sector. - Alex Thank you, Alex!!! Going down a treat with the 'Big Charity' Pop Up Car Wash What an unbelievable reception we received by local businesses at Archways in Manchester last Thursday... The feedback we received was excellent and we've been asked by many, to do it all again. We are truly grateful for all the support from everyone who came along to experience what we are doing. Thank you to Jonathan Bowers for kindly providing us with the use of the facilities and for believing in our mission. We had the opportunity to ask Jonathan why he wanted to support us and this is what he had to say: "It was great having you and the team here today. Part of the reason to support you is the energy that you bring and what you're doing for young people. You can listen to the full interview in the video below. Next stop BizSpace Ltd Preston Save the Date This coming Thursday 25th April 2024 🕰️ From 10.00 am to 3.00 pm Location: Technology Centre, Marsh Lane, Preston, PR1 8UQ Pledge your support! As well as getting our young people involved in the community activity, we understand that the skills being developed are wholeheartedly transferable. In view of this, we believe that the earlier the intervention the better chance we have of operating at the prevention level rather than at cure. With this in mind, we are actively looking for organisations that aligned with our mission and who are receptive to a conversation around the kind of support that has the potential to literally change people's lives. 💻 Do you have any preloved or unwanted laptops sitting around? 💻 Design shapes our world, yet our industry doesn’t reflect our society. Vital Hardware is a non-profit with a mission to empower talented young individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, by providing them with essential hardware and software tools. In the UK design workforce, 85.6% of management are white. Jobs for ethnic minority groups are just 13%, and senior positions are just 12%. Worse still, just 16% of creative industry employees come from working-class backgrounds. The creative sector struggles to find homegrown talent, particularly from working-class, ethnically diverse backgrounds and disadvantage communities. Pentawards is supporting this initiative through donation and by encouraging our network and community to get involved and help them reach even further in their efforts. How can you get involved? 🙏 ✅ Donating preloved or unused laptops ✅ Funding support to help continue their work If you have any laptops which you can donate, please drop me a message 🙌 #donation #vitalhardware

Three months ago, alongside my role at First Rail Consultancy, I took on an exciting new role as a trustee for Croydon Pride, and what an incredible journey it’s been so far! This experience has been transformative in so many ways, and I’d love to share some reflections—and maybe even inspire you to consider a similar opportunity. Growing Through New Skills Becoming a trustee has been a steep but rewarding learning curve. From strategic planning to governance, I’m developing skills I hadn’t fully explored before. Whether it’s collaborating on fundraising initiatives, event planning, or understanding the finer points of running a charity, I’m constantly learning. It’s empowering to know that these skills not only help the charity but also strengthen my own professional toolkit. Connecting with Inspiring People One of the most rewarding aspects of this role has been the opportunity to meet so many passionate, talented, and inspiring people. From fellow trustees and volunteers to members of the local community, I’ve been surrounded by individuals who are deeply committed to creating positive change. These connections have expanded my network and given me a deeper appreciation for the power of community. Making a Local Impact As someone who identifies strongly with the mission of Croydon Pride, it’s incredibly fulfilling to contribute to a charity that celebrates and supports the LGBTQ+ community. Whether we’re organising events or advocating for inclusivity, every action feels meaningful. Being part of a team that uplifts others has reminded me just how powerful collective effort can and should be. Why You Should Consider Becoming a Trustee If you’re passionate about a cause, I’d highly encourage you to explore becoming a trustee for a charity that resonates with you. It’s a chance to give back, grow personally and professionally, and connect with like-minded people. Many charities are actively seeking trustees from diverse backgrounds, so don’t hesitate to reach out and see how you can contribute. For me, these past three months have been about more than just learning and giving back—they’ve been about becoming part of something bigger. If you’ve ever thought about taking on a trustee role: go for it. You might just surprise yourself with how much you gain along the way. If you’re curious about becoming a trustee or want to know more about my experience, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to share more! And now, here's the sales pitch 😉 - Support Pridefest: Your generosity makes it possible for us to keep Pridefest free and accessible to everyone, if you can, consider making a donation https://lnkd.in/ew5qGAUZ - Become a Sponsor: Are you or your organisation interested in sponsoring Pridefest?
