Interesting and timely advice. I think that organisations are not set up for success in this current environment, as they have decided to go it alone without Agencies involved. Would it have made a difference, maybe, maybe not. Based on my own experience in the last few months, there is a big lag between the closing date and when you a notified of thanks but no thanks. There have also been lags between an interview and the thanks but no thanks. Where some of the applicants have had their roles disestablished, some respect for applicants is needed, considering that organisations are wanting them to join up with them and the values they claim to uphold. Where applicants history shows they are either experienced, been contracting, applying for presumably a lesser role…don’t just assume that they are doing it for the sake of applying for anything or that a contractor doesn’t want to go permanent. That is up to the applicant to explain in an interview.
With the number of job seekers on the rise, it's so important to manage expectations and the candidate experience in a respectful way. We recently shared our tips with Do Good Jobs (NZ) around managing high application numbers while ensuring your candidates are kept in the loop: https://lnkd.in/eYQQyccs
