Tonazzo makes a historic shift from meat to plant-based proteins 🌱 After 136 years in the meat industry, Italian company Tonazzo Group is making a bold move to focus entirely on plant-based proteins. As of December 31 2024, Tonazzo will cease all meat-related operations, concentrating on expanding its Kioene brand, which is already a leader in Italy's plant-based market. The company aims to reduce environmental impact and promote healthier diets through its plant-based offerings. Employees affected by this transition will have new roles within the company, supporting the expansion of Kioene. Albino Tonazzo, CEO of Kioene, said: “As early movers in this market, we feel a deep responsibility to future generations. We want to contribute to environmental preservation and to foster collective awareness. We are confident that the market and consumers will once again follow our lead.” 👏 Let us know what you think of this news! ⬇ #PlantBasedMeat #PlantBasedFood #PlantBasedDiet #MeatAlternatives #MeatFree #AltProtein #Sustainability

Interesting read on the future of cultured meat regulation.
French start-up, Gourmey, has submitted the first premarket application for a cultured meat product intended for human consumption in the EU and the UK. Cultured meat has been in development for decades, but it’s currently only available for human consumption in Singapore and the US. With this new step towards EU and UK approval, it could be appearing on shelves sooner than expected. Read our latest blog to find out what this could mean for the future of cultured meat and the regulatory landscape: https://lnkd.in/emnQpwaH #CulturedMeat #Gourmey #FoieGras #CutlturedFoieGras #LabGrownMeat

Japanese cultivated meat pioneer IntegriCulture has announced five new collaborative projects under its CulNet Consortium, an open innovation platform aimed at advancing the cellular agriculture field. These initiatives focus on addressing key challenges in scaling cultivated meat production, including the development of food-grade culture media, novel scaffolds for 3D cultivation, and cost-effective growth factors. Major food and life sciences companies such as TableMark, San-ei-gen FFI, and Nacalai Tesque are partnering with IntegriCulture on these projects, bringing diverse expertise to the table. The outcomes of these collaborations are intended for commercialization through IntegriCulture's B2B marketplace, Ocatté Base, potentially accelerating the adoption of cellular agriculture technologies across the industry. This announcement follows a significant $18.7 million government grant awarded to IntegriCulture in January, earmarked for demonstrating the commercial viability of its cultivated foie gras and serum platforms. IntegriCulture's approach of fostering open innovation and collaboration highlights the importance of ecosystem-building in advancing the cellular agriculture field, particularly in addressing complex scaling challenges. This development also underscores Japan's growing role in the global cellular agriculture landscape, with government support and industry partnerships driving innovation in the sector. #cellag #futureoffood #cultivatedmeat #cellbasedmeat #cellularagriculture
