🌎 For Earth Day, Maneva Group has committed to planting 2,000 trees by the end of 2024! As an executive search firm and digital marketing agency for nonprofits, we get to work with incredible organizations every day. But we also take pride in our ability to directly make an impact. This year, we are launching Maneva Earth, our commitment to positively impact the environment. In a partnership with Evertreen, we planted our first 250 trees in April in Madagascar, Africa. Check out the video below about this project! The work was done by paying local villagers, and all trees were selected based on their impact in the local environment. The Evertreen team will monitor the planted trees by drones so that they can make sure they are surviving and constantly improve our efforts. Happy Earth Day to all of our friends and partners! #earthday2024 #earthday #reforestation #planttrees #environment #manevaearth

The cao vit gibbon population is down by 38% compared to previous estimates. However, this drastic reduction is not caused by an actual decline in gibbon numbers, but is a result of more accurate data-gathering techniques – such as unique voice detection and drones. Before now, it was believed there were as many as 120 individuals living across 20 groups. This more accurate re-estimate puts the population of this species at just 74 across 11 family groups. Due to the development of ‘vocal fingerprinting’, a technique that allows us to identify individuals through their unique voices, we have been able to avoid any accidental double-counting. Despite the estimate being smaller than previous counts, we believe that this gibbon’s population is actually increasing thanks to ongoing conservation efforts in Vietnam. Conservation measures to protect the cao vit gibbon include the establishment of two protected areas, regular patrolling by rangers and community groups to protect against poaching, long-term monitoring and research, habitat restoration, support for sustainable livelihoods, transboundary conservation cooperation, awareness-raising about the plight of the gibbon, and educational events with local schools and communities. Recently, a drone mapping initiative covering 11.4 acres of land revealed alarming findings about the degradation status of Mtwapa Creek in Kenya. Out of this area, 7.7 acres were found to be degraded, while only 3.7 acres remain unaffected. These numbers, derived from NDVI values, paint a stark reality: 68% of the surveyed area is degraded. This isn't just a fraction; it's a significant portion that demands immediate attention. The sampled data suggests that the entire ecosystem of Mtwapa Creek is under threat. It's a call to action for all stakeholders, from local communities to governmental bodies and environmental organizations. Interventions are not just advisable; they are imperative. We need concerted efforts to reverse this trend, restore the health of Mtwapa Creek, and safeguard its biodiversity for generations to come. Let's collaborate, innovate, and take decisive actions to preserve our precious natural resources. Together, we can make a difference. #EnvironmentalConservation #MtwapaCreek #Kenya #NDVI #Sustainability 🌿

Dr. Lahiru Wijedasa of BirdLife International, a member of the SCeNe Coalition, takes us on an eye-opening journey at the intersection of tech, conservation, and carbon financing. 🔍Tech can expedite carbon credit issuance, but the bigger challenge remains: the need for on-ground expertise and dedicated individuals in remote areas. Remote sensing can't replace the human touch, especially in local communities. 💰Dr. Wijedasa also sheds light on conservation funding, emphasising that donor support isn't enough. BirdLife, part of the SCeNe Coalition, will issue carbon credits from Cambodia's Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary next year. 🎧Dive into the conversation: https://lnkd.in/gWkgXDbB Explore Dr. Wijedasa's insights further: 📚https://lnkd.in/g-hrHe5R 📚https://lnkd.in/gcmMRpY7 Big thanks to Shihan (Han) Fang for the opportunity. 💣🐪 On the 4th of April, we commemorate International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, shedding light on the perilous presence of landmines in conflict zones and the vital efforts to clear them. 💔 During conflicts, landmines saturate areas, posing grave risks to civilians and hindering post-war recovery efforts. The slow and meticulous process of demining often involves innovative approaches, including the use of animals like rats and bees to detect hidden mines. 🐀🐝 But let's not forget the invaluable role of camels in mine-affected regions. 🐪 With their robust build and surefootedness, camels are indispensable for transporting heavy demining equipment in remote and challenging terrains, providing a safer alternative to traditional vehicles. However, camels themselves are not immune to the dangers of landmines. Every year, several camels fall victim to hidden mines while traversing mine-infested areas, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive demining efforts. You can make a difference by supporting organizations like Handicap International - Humanity & Inclusion , who work tirelessly to clear landmines and assist affected communities. Together, we can help create safer environments for both humans and animals. 🌐🕊️ For those interested in learning more about camelids and their incredible resilience, explore the brand new library on Camelendar at www.camelendar.com/library. 📚🐫 #MineAwarenessDay #CamelsAgainstMines #DeminingEfforts #LandmineAwareness #AnimalAssistance #HumanitarianEfforts #SupportHandicapInternational #CamelSafety #CamelTransportation #Camelendar #IYC2024 #InternationalYearOfCamelids #FAO #RaiseAwareness #EndLandmines #SafetyFirst #CamelLibrary #EducateYourself #GlobalInitiatives #4thApril 🐪💣 Handicap International Belgium

This public holiday, as Kenya honors those lost in the recent floods and commits to a greener future, we reflect on the transformative potential of a single seed. "One Seedball at a Time" symbolizes Drone Space's ongoing dedication to reforestation, resilience, and renewal. Our innovative use of drone technology for seedball distribution supports several key goals: ☑️ Ecosystem restoration: Rebuilding degraded lands and promoting biodiversity. ☑️ Flood mitigation: Healthy forests enhance rainfall absorption, reducing future risks. ☑️ Climate resilience: Trees offer a sustainable legacy in combating climate change. We remain steadfast in our commitment to responsible drone-powered reforestation efforts. #droneseeding #seedballs
