This week the European Sustainable Energy Week is happening in Brussels. Missing on the agenda: solar energy solutions for the majority of European households that don't have a roof for a bigger solar installation, or that don't need or want a bigger installation. How can this be? The benefits of solar energy must be made available to all household. Robinsun stands for democratizing solar energy. Installations must be easy, affordable, fast, and following unified norms in all of Europe. We would have expected to see more of this at EUSEW 2024. https://loom.ly/6HFdchI #solar4all #climateaction #greeneurope

Green energy is expensive. Unfortunately, it is still a common misconception, which is far from the truth. While the cost of electricity from renewable sources like sunlight, wind or water is slightly higher (for now), it’s not much. We’ve calculated it, and the cost difference for our customers is pretty much minimal on average.🌱💪 That’s why we now offer green energy to all our customers signing a new contract, no matter the tariff. Renewable energy sources (which don’t pollute the environment) are a wise addition to the energy mix — and they can save you both money and protect our beautiful landscape in the long run. 😊 A quick example: Producing electricity for a small apartment causes the same environmental damage as driving 9,000 km in a car. Not ideal, of course. As we are talking about a transition to the new energy world, there is no need to go 100% green at once, and to be honest, it is not even possible in most cases as of right now. So, let me rephrase the statement: Not making the most of green energy is expensive, and it will get even more costly in the upcoming years. Switching to green energy is the goal, and we’re paving the way (as E.ON is also on of the leaders in buying green electricity in Czechia). #EnergyTransition #GreenEnergy #ItsOnUs

🌍 𝗘𝗨 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 🌍 Over the last 7 days, electricity prices across the EU have shown significant fluctuations, reflecting the complex interplay of energy sources, grid dynamics, and market conditions. Here's a snapshot: 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 & 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮: Prices peaked at around 𝟭𝟲𝟮.𝟲𝟳€/𝗠𝗪𝗵, driven by high reliance on fossil fuels and limited renewable resources. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 & 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻: On the other end, Finland saw prices dip as low as -𝟬.𝟰𝟴€/𝗠𝗪𝗵, with Sweden also experiencing similar prices. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀? In Finland, wind energy plays a crucial role in lowering electricity prices. When weather conditions are favorable, wind turbines can produce more electricity than is consumed, leading to an oversupply. This excess electricity pushes prices down, sometimes even into negative territory, as producers are willing to pay to offload their surplus. This phenomenon highlights the importance of renewable energy in stabilizing and reducing energy costs. 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝘅𝗶 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Implementing Reduxi can help buildings consume electricity during off-peak times when prices are lower. 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: By integrating battery storage, excess electricity generated (or purchased at a lower cost) can be stored and used later, reducing reliance on the grid during expensive periods. 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀: Effectively managing electricity on a large scale not only reduces costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability: 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁: By optimizing the use of renewable energy, buildings can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, significantly lowering their carbon footprint. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: On a larger scale, these practices can lead to substantial financial savings, freeing up resources for further investment in sustainable technologies. With 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝘅𝗶, businesses and homeowners can play a critical role in driving the EU's energy transition, all while cutting costs and reducing environmental impact. 👉 Interested in optimizing your energy management? Chairman @ ECMN | Expert in Marketing & Event Management | Driving Innovation in Industry 4.0, Sustainability, and Green Tech
Last week, NET ZERO EUROPE - Solar & Energy Storage Alessandro Barin 林宸, Alessandro Migliorini, Antoni Beltran Dauden, Laura Hanneken, Björn Broda, and Paul Minjauw discussed the topic of 'Shaping Europe’s Solar & Energy Storage Strategy for a Sustainable Future'. As Europe races toward its 2050 goal of carbon neutrality, solar energy and energy storage have become central to the region's energy transition. Key milestones, driven by ambitious government policies and cross-border cooperation, are setting the stage for a cleaner, more resilient energy future. - A Clear Path to 2050 Europe has set critical targets that form the backbone of its renewable energy strategy. By 2030, the EU aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55%, with solar energy expected to play a pivotal role. By 2040, a substantial portion of the region's energy consumption will be met by solar and wind power, supported by advanced energy storage technologies. The ultimate goal?Achieving a carbon-neutral energy system by 2050. - The Role of Government Policies Government support is crucial to this strategy. Policies like the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive mandate that at least 32% of energy comes from renewable sources by 2030. Incentives such as tax credits and feed-in tariffs help drive solar adoption across residential and commercial sectors. National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) are essential tools for aligning individual member states’ efforts with the EU’s collective goals. - Sustainability in Manufacturing For solar to truly be sustainable, attention must extend beyond deployment to the manufacturing of solar panels. Solar PV manufacturers are focusing on sustainable production practices, minimizing environmental impacts, and ensuring responsible supply chain management. Moreover, recycling initiatives under the WEEE directive aim to promote a circular economy by ensuring solar panel waste is properly recycled. - Cross-border Cooperation and Permitting Cross-border energy trade and infrastructure investment are vital for optimizing solar energy distribution. European countries must work together to harmonize permitting processes to streamline solar project approvals and reduce administrative burdens. Simplifying these processes through a “one-stop-shop” approach would accelerate solar adoption, especially for high-impact projects. - Conclusion Europe’s solar strategy is well underway, but the next steps will require further policy support, cross-border collaboration, and innovations in manufacturing and storage. With streamlined processes and a collective focus, Europe can lead the way to a sustainable energy future. #CleanEnergy #SolarEnergy #EnergyStorage #Sustainability #EU

“I learned early on that renewable energy is the solution in the fight against climate change,” says Laura Zöckler. The Heidelberg native is committed to an #energy transformation that involves citizens. Her vision has already become a reality in many places in the city: “Private individuals produce the #renewable energy we need for an ecological energy supply.” 🔋 Since 2011 Laura has been involved in an honorary capacity with the Heidelberg energy cooperative Heidelberger Energiegenossenschaft. Their goal is for people in Heidelberg and the surrounding area to be able to supply 100 percent of their own electric power using renewable energy from the neighbourhood. “We build solar plants financed by our members – and there are more than 1,200 of us. In addition, we supply green power, build electric charging stations and hold a stake in wind turbines.” 💡 130 residents in three apartment buildings in Heidelberg’s Südstadt district have also benefited from self-produced green power since 2018, with a fourth apartment building having been added in 2022. As part of this neighbourhood project, residents obtain energy from their own roof via solar panels, and it is then distributed to the individual apartments. Surplus electricity is fed into a storage facility and eight electric charging stations, two of which are permanently available for car-sharing vehicles. If the solar power is not sufficient to supply the buildings, the electricity storage system kicks in. “We’re able to people offer electric power from their own roof at a much lower price than they can get it from the national grid,” says Zöckler. This means that tenants benefit financially, too. And they know where their electricity is coming from, too, which ensures the develop a sense of ownership. The Rotterdam-based company Wattlab develops Solar Hatches, a product that generates solar energy on inland vessels. In co-operation with local shipping company Vertom Group, Wattlab has been working on the development of the so-called Solar Flatrack. This modular solar energy system has the same purpose as the Solar Hatch: reduce the emission of CO2 by making use of solar energy. Because of its standardized size and attachement method, the Solar Flatrack can be applied to the majority of bulk transport seagoing vessels. The product can potentially reduce the emission of CO2 up to 100 tonnes per ship per year! Recently, alderman Chantal Zeegers (on the far right on the photo) paid a working visit to Wattlab where founder Bo Salet (second from the right on the photo) elaborated on recent progress and opportunities for the Solar Flatrack innovation within the city and port of Rotterdam. A feasibility study on the commercial applicability of the Solar Flatrack was made possible by the Smart Energy Systems program of the City of Rotterdam. We want to give a ‘shout-out’ to our partner, The Warehouse Group, who set a bold goal to reduce their Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 (compared to a 2020 base year) and reach zero emissions by 2040. Switching to renewable energy is a major part of this plan. Last week, The Warehouse Group (TWG) released its inaugural Climate-Related Disclosures Report for FY24. Over the past year, TWG converted 63 of its stores to Lodestone’s Virtual Rooftop Solar and consolidated some of its sites. In doing so, the group reduced its Scope 2 (market-based) emissions by 42.3% versus FY23. By 2026, the partnership will see TWG convert the remainder of its stores to Lodestone’s solar solution, with the plan of eliminating its market-based Scope 2 emissions in NZ. Congratulations on your Toitū Envirocare commitment to #carbonreduce and the progress made so far.
