🚨 Over 280 applications for one role in just 4 days! 🚨 It’s clear the job market is calling, and good roles are being snapped up faster than ever. With so much competition, it’s important to stand out for the right reasons. Here's why you may not be hearing back... 1️⃣ Align Your Experience to the Role Take the time to connect your skills and achievements to the role or industry you’re applying for. Employers want to see a clear story of why you’re a great fit—make it easy for them to see the alignment. 2️⃣ Don’t Mass Apply It’s obvious when candidates take a scattergun approach. Instead, focus your energy on fewer, carefully chosen roles, and craft thoughtful applications that highlight why you’re the perfect match. 3️⃣ Show Results Over Experience Years of experience are important, but so is your impact. Employers love to see measurable outcomes, like “increased revenue by 20%” or “delivered a complex project ahead of schedule.” It’s not just about what you’ve done—it’s about the difference you’ve made. The market is competitive, but there are incredible opportunities out there. A little extra effort in aligning your application can make all the difference. if you have 'START-UP' experience - Yes, we do check and you're looking to join the next unicorn venture! 'I'm just applying for anything Product-Related that I can'. Something I've heard at least 4 times this week and it's only Tuesday... And I know it's tough out there. So many fantastic people are still navigating a job market that is still much tricker than we'd like it to be, but even though casting a wide net when job searching for product roles might seem like the best way to go, in my opinion, it can be a strategy that actually backfires and can end up doing more harm than good. Here's why: ⚒️Product roles really vary and whilst some might sound similar, the responsibilities and expectations can be quite different, so you need to be clear on the exact role that you're applying for and how that relates to your skills, experience and career goals 🗺️Applying for everything without a clear direction can make you appear to be a generalist. The product industry is super diverse and different roles demand different skills, so target job applications with your strengths and position yourself as an expert, not just 'another applicant' 💡In my experience, employers often value targeted expertise and experience. Whether it’s a B2B product or a consumer-facing app, hiring managers want candidates who show a clear understanding of their specific needs. When your application shows that you've researched the company, you understand their market and can bring relevant experience to the table, you're far more likely to stand out Smart, focused applications should win over a scattergun approach every time. 👍🏻

🚨 🚨 IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB, READ THIS 🚨 🚨 As a Tech Recruiter, I want to share a little vent and a valuable tip for those looking for new opportunities! Often, we send a message describing an opportunity and ask something simple, like, “If you’re interested, could you share your email and the best time for us to chat?” or “Please select a time in the link below for us to talk.” But… what do I get in response? Something like: “Hi, thanks for reaching out. I’d like to know more about the role.” And I’m left thinking: “Great, but help me help you!” 😂 So, here’s a golden tip: if a recruiter is already asking for your email and availability for a conversation, replying with that info saves time on both sides and speeds up the process! Next time a recruiter reaches out with a message like this, try responding with something like: “Hello! Yes, I’m interested! My email is ______, and I’m available to chat on Tuesday at 3 pm or Wednesday at 10 am. Thank you!” This way, we can get right to the point and move on to the next steps! 🚀

📣 Attention LinkedIn Job Seekers! 📣 When reviewing profiles, I often see job titles, companies, years on the job, and LinkedIn-selected skills listed. But here’s what’s often missing – the actual experience! Here’s a crucial tip: Don’t just list your roles and selected skills; describe what you did in each position. What software did you use? Highlight key achievements, responsibilities, and the impact you made. This gives recruiters like me real insight into your expertise and potential fit for a role. Why does it matter? This can be the make-or-break factor in deciding to reach out with an InMail! 📩 Showing how you’ve made a difference helps you stand out from the crowd – and it might just be the first step toward your next big opportunity. 💼 Let’s see what you’ve accomplished!

Let’s chat about the job search struggle in 2024 🫤💔 Is it just me, or has recruiter ghosting hit an all-time high? You make it through a couple of rounds, and then they hit you with, “I’ll follow up today,” and… crickets 🦗. It’s not just a letdown; it’s kinda unprofessional, right? And don’t even get me started on those “open” roles that never seem to hire anyone 🚪❌. Meanwhile, so many skilled candidates can’t get past the “10 years of experience” wall—even for entry-level gigs. Like, did we forget what “entry-level” means? 🥲 The whole process feels exhausting and kinda disheartening, especially when it seems like some agencies are just not doing their part to help out. If anyone’s got positive vibes, tips, or experiences that actually worked, drop them below! We gotta support each other through this wild ride! 💪✨

📢 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞? Ever feel like you're shouting into the void when applying for jobs? You're not alone. Last month, I applied to 70 positions that seemed perfect for my skills and experience. Want to know how many responses I got? A whopping three. Yes, you read that right. Three out of seventy. 🤦♂️ But here's the kicker: I noticed at least 25 of those jobs were reposted weeks later. Some even multiple times! It's like watching your crush swipe left on your dating profile, only to see them back on the app the next day. Ouch. 💔 This got me thinking: Is the hiring process broken? Are we stuck in some kind of application limbo? Or are companies just really, really indecisive about what they want in a candidate? Here's a real-life example that still baffles me: I applied for a role at a tech startup. The job posting said they needed someone ASAP. Fast forward three months, and I'm still seeing that "urgent" position pop up on job boards. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? 🤔 So, fellow job seekers, I'm curious: - What's the longest you've seen a job reposted? - Have you ever been contacted for a position you applied to months ago? - Any theories on why this keeps happening? Let's swap stories and maybe even brainstorm some solutions. After all, if we can't beat the system, we might as well laugh about it together, right? 😅 #JobSearchStruggle #HiringProcessWoes #WeDeserveResponses

One reason you're not landing a new role: You still think this is a numbers game. If you want to get an offer, you have to be a sniper. I call it smart applying. Here's how it works: 👉🏻 Instead of applying to hundreds of jobs, pick 10 companies you want to work for. 👉🏻 Study the open roles at these companies that match your skills. 👉🏻 Adapt your resume to make you the perfect fit from the start. One application, one resume. 👉🏻 After that, don't try to network with the hiring team. Instead, network with the people who work in the department you want to be in. Always approach them respectfully and do your best to create a connection based on mutual interests. This way, you're starting a conversation, allowing you to add value for them later. You become a giver, not just a taker. By creating genuine connections, you will increase your chances of getting in front of the right people at the company - which will get you infinitely closer to getting that job. And instead of being candidate #8593, you will be Josh (or Mary, or Miguel…), the kind person who showed genuine curiosity and interest in them, the company, and the role. If you want to learn how to network for great tech roles, just 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 "𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸." I'll reach out to offer free help with your search.

I feel like job posts are starting to sound like a game of déjà vu. Have you ever thought this before? 👀 👀 Maybe the better question is: Have you ever NOT thought this before? Thousand a many job posts say: "Must be a self-starter with n+ years of experience in [insert app that was invented last year]." Job search is tough, BUT…what if job searching was... - FUN - CHALLENGING - EXCITING Is that possible really though? Let's experiment! Whilst going through the process, candidates go through multiple rounds only to find out the role doesn't quite fit the bill. So, here's my take on putting myself out there to recruiters: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eqSQ4xgD 👈 SEE IT, PLAY IT, we're both SORTED. 🚀🎉 (but desktop view please) Crazy idea? Maybe. But let's find out!
