Data provided by SHOOK ® Research, LLC – Data as of 3/31/23. Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person, virtual and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes: a measure of each team's best practices, client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. SHOOK's research and rankings provide opinions intended to help investors choose the right financial advisor and team, and are not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client's experience. Nice feature on Fairway Wealth Management LLC in InvestmentNews magazine. Really glad the author touched on our focus on reliable value. Controlling things like costs, taxes, investment strategy, follow-through and investment behavior prove valuable no matter the market environment and don't rely on being "right" about a particular outlook or prediction.
At Fairway, we believe our clients should be in the driver’s seat of their financial journey. We are proud of our approach to providing reliable value, allowing clients the freedom to make their own informed choices supported by our team’s skilled guidance.
Our President Mark Weiskind, CFP, CPA/PFS (inactive) recently spoke with Josh Welsh at InvestmentNews on the key to Fairway’s success.
“Sometimes the biggest impediment to success is people’s own behavior, and behavioral mistakes. Part of our value proposition is we’re always going to keep you from doing something you’ll regret or helping to make sure that that your behavior and emotional emotions don’t impact your decision making,” he said.

Bringing a new member into a fully operating wealth management business generally offers an injection of optimism along with the prospect of growth. It could introduce much-needed technological or marketing expertise to the team, for instance, or broaden the division of labor, making everyone’s load a little lighter.
And it’s even better if a new addition brings assets to the operation. An AUM infusion is always a welcome benefit for a firm intent on expansion.
All that said, despite the best of intentions and background checks, partnerships don’t always work out. Bad fits happen. And breaking up – and unwinding those assets – can be very hard to do.
That’s why Hannes Grascher, CEPA®, a UBS wealth manager overseeing over three-quarters of a billion dollars in assets, was extremely careful when bringing his son Max Grascher, CPWA®, CEPA® onto his team, the New York International Group. The last thing he wanted to do was disturb an already streamlined operation, let alone a warm relationship with his offspring.
Here's a detailed roadmap on how they successfully achieved integrating Max into the team:

Personally, I find relaxation in watching movies, a pastime that often doubles as a source of financial insights for me. Recently, while watching the latest series of Bridgerton, I discovered several intriguing financial lessons infused into the storyline.
In our relentless pursuit of professional excellence, it's essential to occasionally indulge in activities that rejuvenate and inspire us. Taking time to unwind is not just enjoyable, but a vital part of maintaining our productivity and creativity.
In addition to being a visual feast of regency romance and drama, the Bridgerton series also delivers significant yet subtle lessons in personal finance. Here, Penelope Featherington shines as the elusive Lady Whistledown, an underappreciated financial genius.
🔹 Strategic Saving: Penelope, amidst the glitz of high society, showcases the power of saving. With over £10,000 secretly stowed away, she highlights how consistent saving can lead to significant financial security, even in times when traditional banking wasn't an option.
🔹 Entrepreneurial Spirit: As Lady Whistledown, Penelope successfully runs a gossip publishing business that not only earns her a substantial income but also allows her to control an entire value chain—from writing to distribution.
🔹 Discretion and Privacy: Her ability to discreetly manage her finances without drawing attention is a lesson in financial privacy and security. This discretion keeps her financial success a surprise to all, embodying the adage "they never see me coming."
🔹Partnerships and Networks: Penelope's collaboration with a publishing partner and distributors underscores the importance of building and leveraging networks that can amplify business success and contribute to the entire financial ecosystem.
Have you watched the series? What other financial insights did you get from Bridgerton?
How do you manage the stress that comes with emergencies, financial planning and decision-making?

Despite my youthful appearance 🙄, I carry the wisdom of an era that witnessed the fall of financial giants like the Man from the Pru, Equitable Life, Allied Dunbar, and Bank Assurance. These institutions, despite their once towering presence, crumbled due to a common thread: they delivered poor outcomes for their consumers. It's with a sense of déjà vu that I feel St. James's Place as the latest entity to walk this familiar path of distress, despite its desperate efforts to now brand itself as a beacon of Trust 😂
It's worth noting that thousands of Independent Financial Advisers, who stood the test of time continue to thrive. These businesses have flourished not by prioritising corporate profits from a basis of selling extortionately expensive and poor performing investment products, but by placing their clients at the heart of everything they do. They operate on a client-centric model, starkly contrasting with the sales and profit-driven motives seen in some corporate structures.
As SJP navigates through its current turmoil, I find myself reflecting on the resilience and growth of our own client base, a pattern repeated with the downfall of each of those predecessor firms. Our commitment to being unequivocally Independent and focused on our clients' best interests has been, and continues to be, the cornerstone of our success.
