THE CASE FOR S-M-E-A-C Law Enforcement operations, including United States Secret Service (USSS) operations, at critical incidents, including political rallies where high profile candidates are attending, REQUIRE a comprehensive plan called an Operations Order (Op Order). The Op Order consists of five so called “paragraphs” or “sections” which answer the following questions: 1. What is the SITUATION? 2. What is the MISSION? 3. What is the plan of EXECUTION? 4. What are the ADMINISTRATIVE needs? 5. Who is in COMMAND, what are the CONTROL mechanisms, and what are the COMMUNICATIONS requirements? The Op Order can be brief and communicated verbally in small unit operations or detailed and written when large and disparate unit operations are involved, i.e. federal, state and local law enforcement. The Op Order is especially important where disparate law enforcement units are working together to protect against threats and hazards or to engage them. Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance!

It's never been about chasing everyone. It's always been about redressing the environment that's been created from a functional prohibition. We've heard (and now read) that many agencies won't be making changes to their department's policies. We trust that the Chiefs and Sheriffs know what's best for their departments. However, regardless of whether agencies make significant adjustments, one of the biggest factors of the law change is that, moving forward, folks can't flee law enforcement with confidence that they won't be pursued. By creating some grey space in the mind's of prospective offenders and increasing the chances that consequences will follow wrongdoing, hopefully we'll start to see a decline in various crime rates. #publicsafety #trafficsafety #lawenforcement https://lnkd.in/gw3hMgfR

Audit professional guidance recommends audit reports be issued timely to enhance the credibility and usefulness of the information to both the entity departments and the public. There appears to be significant latency issuing OSA reports. For these 3 recent OSA reports, 630 days lapsed between end of timeframe June 2021 and report issuance in November 2023. Will be interesting to understand the strategies OSA will be implementing to reduce the time it takes to issue audit reports. #mapoli
