In Life: Personal traditions form the backdrop of our daily lives, offering moments of solace and familiarity. Whether it's a serene morning walk, a cherished Sunday family dinner, or an annual cruise vacation, these routines provide a sense of stability and an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what truly holds meaning for us. Within Family: Family traditions hold a special place in our hearts, weaving a tapestry of shared experiences that transcend generations. Whether it's a weekly game night or the timeless customs passed down through the years, these rituals strengthen familial bonds and serve as the cornerstone of enduring legacies. Reflecting on my own experiences, some of the most cherished traditions stem from my involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. The symbolic Crossover ceremonies marking Cub Scouts' advancements and the heartfelt letters received by Eagle Scouts from esteemed individuals were moments that embodied the essence of tradition and honor. Sarah and I arrived at the hotel. I am giving a keynote address on the success principles that empower individuals and organizations to take their journey from great to extraordinary. The staff at the Westin blew us away with their hospitality and aloha. They gave us our keys and sent us on our way. It took us a minute to find the room and when we did, it was marvelous! They gave us the presidential penthouse suite. (Here’s a little tour...) As a guy who studies the common traits of extraordinary behavior and achievement, one of the traits I admire most is the joy of living between simplicity and extravagance. As many of you know I started my journey living in a Volkswagen Bus, eating food off my Coleman stove and now living in a tiny home on an organic farm. It is incredibly fulfilling bouncing between these two realities. Having spent time with some of the most successful and wealthy people on this planet, those that can afford and buy all the luxuries one can imagine, I have seen first hand how happy they are with nothing. I know, you’re probably saying, “That’s easy for them, they have everything.” But I can assure that they didn’t always have everything. In fact, many of the truly great visionaries, pioneers and leaders of industry, came from nothing, so they had nothing to lose. They began their journeys from humble beginnings. I have always believed if one can be grateful with little they can be rewarded with a lot. Besides, life is fickle and we never know what’s around the next corner. So appreciate what you have and always make the best of where you are. Today we’re balling in our suite and in a couple of days, we’ll be back at the farm and I’ll be helping Sarah gather cow poop in buckets to fertilize the garden. 🌊🐠 Today is my 90th Day as Operations Manager at Scarborough Sea Life! 🐠🌊 What an incredible journey it’s been! Over the past three months, I’ve dived into my role, guided by our Merlin values: We Care, Own Your Craft, Drive and Discover, Go Together, and Enjoy the Ride. ✨ Highlights so far: We Care: a welcoming environment has been priority for both our guests and team members, ensuring everyone feels valued and heard! -Own Your Craft: I’ve taken ownership of optimising our operations, implementing best practices that enhance efficiency and elevate guest experiences. - Drive and Discover: We’ve successfully launched several new initiatives that not only boost guest engagement but also drive our commercial success—always looking for innovative ways to grow! -Go Together: Collaboration has been key! I’ve worked closely with our talented team to streamline processes and ensure everyone is aligned towards our common goals. ( one of these goals is to make Scarborough THE best Sea Life!) -Enjoy the Ride: The journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs, and I’m excited about the positive momentum we’ve built together. One of the biggest successes in the past 90 days is the relaunch of the Your Voice Counts Committee! This initiative empowers all team members to share their ideas, ensuring that every voice contributes to our operational excellence.
