Important points here for companies in the USA. Instead of focusing on the details of a particular EU regulation (which we will never be able to keep up with) it's more important to look at: what businesses and business models does this regulation effect, and how do those businesses and business models affect Europe's most important problem (climate, including climate refugees) and Europe's most urgent problem (ongoing multi-front invasion from Russia) If a company based here is seen in Europe as more a part of the problem than as part of the solution, then the company going to have a hard time in Europe even if they can spend a lot of money on Palo Alto lawyers to dodge a particular regulation.
Europe faces six major digital challenges. Any of these grand challenges is enough to threaten our way of life. Together they are the challenge of our age. Speaking at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung we set out how the next President of the European Commission should respond to them. Dr. Pencho Kuzev Video, slides, and text are at https://lnkd.in/ePbUReTX

Is 2024 Europe's hard power moment? ECFR 4 Jul 2024 Europe’s Choice: Is 2024 Europe’s moment of reinvention? The results of the European elections, and the subsequent French parliamentary election, are sending shockwaves across the continent. It comes on top of a series of geopolitical turbulences which have upended conventional wisdom across capitals on defence/security, trade, green tech, and enlargement. In this context, how can Europe retool to become a hard power in a world of deterrence and derisking? How can we best defend Ukraine, and stabilize the Middle East? How can we strategically manage interdependence, reduce risks, and forge new relationships with middle powers like those in Asia, Africa, and Latin America? Can we make 2024 the year of Europe’s reinvention? Will Europe’s fate be decided by Putin, Xi Jinping, or Trump, or can Europeans take their destiny into their own hands in 2024? Coming together the week where France and the UK go to the polls, and between the EU’s top jobs being decided and NATO’s Washington summit, this year’s ECFR Annual Council Meeting will seek to set Europe’s new strategic course in 2024 and beyond.

This is absolutely correct. As a management consultant I would always start by listening and learning before I came to any conclusions or declaring opinions. Sadly this can’t be said of many board and CEO appointments I have witnessed. They often feel the need to justify their position with immediate action, instead of starting by quietly taking stock.

This is spot on. The phrase “Don’t show up to prove. Show up to improve” highlights the importance of prioritizing personal growth over seeking validation from others. It’s a powerful reminder for leaders to focus on continuous improvement and development.
